Went with Sproul, then I'll give in and go Mrazek.

Not really sure who I'm gonna go with after that between Frk, Trvdon, and Jensen. Tough to say.

Mrazek, Sproul, Frk for me.

Frk could see alarge rise quickly if he can pove that his concussion issues of last season are behind him. He was supposed to be a top 15 pick without the head issues

I agree that Frk has tons of ability and he slipped because of injury. I have trouble putting him above Tvrdon who was a little less hyped but probably would have worked his way into the first by being a point a game player in his draft year. He then came back and did what you are hoping Frk will do and led WHL rookie scoring. I edge him in front of Frk at some point Andersson has to get voted over potential too, don't know when I make that decision but it is soon in my opinion.

Would it be frowned upon if I said add Nicastro?

I think he could have a very good year in Grand Rapids this year.

Here is a question the Q lists Xavier Ouellet's birthplace as Terrebonne, QC

Eliteprospects has it as Bayonne, FRA.

Anybody know who is correct?

Was very encouraged by his camp reports. Especially considering the amount of time he spent away from hockey last year. Think he is a big mean stay at home type. You can suggest whoever you want. He does have some intriguing talent, rough time of it a BU would be nice to see him have a nice year. Never going to be the offensive player we thought when he was drafted in my opinion, but if he could fix his career that would be an outstanding thing for our defensive depth, make DeKeyser's decision a lot less important.

I voted for Mrazek. It's true that he still has a lot to prove, but I'm not going to let McCollum's history play too much into. It's still rare for an OHL star to fall as far as McCollum has. Here's hoping lightning doesn't strike twice.

Add Athanasiou.

Sproul is just a bit under Hugs and Kisses so I went with him over Mrazek.

Again, add Ferraro.

Actually its rare for any OHL goalie to live up to their hype.

If there was anything that stuck with me from Sarcastro's study of drafted goalies, it's that it should be a rule to avoid all goalies from the OHL.

That really is just a coincidence though. Interesting numbers but nothing to live by. There have been a lot of goalies drafted out of the OHL and more of them are going to college now.

The evidence is compelling but still that should not rule every player. Does it alarm me we are only drafting goalies out of the OHL knowing this history? Yes, a little. But as we pointed out in the prospect thread the Wings always like to go after undervalued markets. You draft the best guy on your board with the most talent. If Mrazek, Campbell and Subban all turn into studs the numbers immediately die, the argument dissipates. 15 years ago you would be having an argument that Mike Ricter and John Vanbiesbrouck were examples of the few great American NHL goalies. How terrible would that argument look today?

Tvrdon. he's got size skill and should improve on last seasons numbers, he is one of our more undervalued prospects in my opinion.

Add Athanasiou.

What I think Sproul will be is a #2/#3 defensemen with a ton of PP time and very little PK time. He will be a 40 point producer and a guy with a ton of value, but just lacks that great defensive game to put him in all star category.

Everyone left on the list has a lot to prove. Almqvist has probably at this point, proven the most. Mrazek is as proven as anyone else.

How so??? Almqvist was trendy three years ago after his post-season run, he has been disappointing since although the Wings have blamed some of that on his Swedish team. We also have no idea how he will do transitioning to North American ice. We haven't seen him heads up with elite North American talent because he never made his WJC team. If you're going to go with a guy off European background in pros, even with the injuries I am much more inclined to go with Marchenko. He also has been a pro since he was very young in a mens league, but is trusted with a bigger role when he is healthy and has none of the size concerns.
