I'm down for either SIM or versus. SIM probably would work better with this many people.

I do however have interest in joining a league that plays the actually games. Anyone know if we'll be able to join multiple leagues? If so we could have a SIM one and another one for those who want to play the games.

I would hope that EA allows users to be in multiple Connected leagues. If not, I wouldn't be surprised (it's EA after all). Again, I'll be down to play SIM or versus, but I just believe it would work better as a SIM league.

Doesn't the whole idea of a sim league go against everything we know about sports? Does the best team on paper always win? That's never the case and its boring. If management was the only factor on ice then wouldn't the likes of Poile and Holland be winning each and every year? Plus, lets face it, there are a lot of GMs here that are getting a big leg up out of the gate with franchises like Philly and Pittsburgh. The up and coming teams with good prospects are going to get shafted because EA knows nothing about prospects and leagues like the NCAA are missing. Level the playing field by letting good on ice tacticians devastate these stacked teams.

Its not like we're going to be able to personally scout draft picks etc.

go play versus if you want to play the actual game. GM connected is about being a GM and seeing the results not playing the actual game.

So why does GM Connected allow you to play the actual game if it's all about being a GM and simulating? I agree that with this many people it should be a SIM league, just don't agree with your post on what GM connected is all about.

We should start up a Youtube channel where we can upload our best plays from the week in this league. Vote on a top 5 from every month or week.

EDIT: I really hope the replay system is more like FIFA so you can see the top plays at the end of the game instead of having to be a dick about it while actually playing the game.

Easier to sell to the casual players.

I agree with the SIM idea because when you don't SIM and play versus the trades you made don't affect anything, maybe it affects your players shot or something, but in the end it's called GM mode so aren't those trades supposed to matter? Sure EA made it so you could play the games but I think that works better for a smaller league.

You can set a time limit for games to be completed and if they arent they will be simmed, the only thing that would be flawed is the difference between how active we all are.

So lets just make two leagues.

One for the pros who actually want to play the games and one for the nubs to watch their flawed simulations.

But there lies the problem. It's a 30 team league. 30 users. If people are expected to play games everyday, I think it could turn into a mess.

Outside lurker and a big contributor to the 60 trade league for NHL 13 connected in the video game board. lol

I've heard people complain about simming. How about just play the first 15-20 games, then sim to the last 10-15 games. That way, the teams borderline holding a spot or outside the playoffs, can desperately fight for the playoffs and would games mean much meaningful.

You don't have to join the league if you don't like to SIM games.
Plus, more people agree with the SIM idea anyway so your "pros" league would be quite small.

It hasn't been decided but I suggest we actually do create a poll to see the overall opinions. I believe benji should get final say. He's organized this.

I am up for a half simulated, half played league if that pleases more people.

I'm down with having both. I wouldn't mind a league based on just moves as a GM and the EA SIM engine...and a league that is based on your own gm/gaming skill.

I'd be more than down for a half and half, or even a 60-40 split.

It's just absolutely mongtarded to suggest that we don't play any games so that GM intelligence would win the league.

I don't know guys, I've never turned on my Xbox and thought "I REALLY want to simulate some NHL12 tonight"

It would kind of be like a yahoo fantasy hockey league, except at least their results are based from real life games. Wouldn't take much time out of your day to make some moves and cross your fingers, but yeah I'm more for playing myself.

I think there is an equitable decision to made.

Maybe 1 game against each GM (29) + each game 5,6 and 7 of playoffs.

Does that sound like a fair balance? I think it is. Could go 29-0 and miss the playoffs. Could make the playoffs and your craptastic team dies in 4 straight.

I play GM mode all the time and I don't play games. I enjoy managing my roster, making trades, etc. and seeing how the team performs.

I don't mind if we play games, but I'd prefer to simulate. I don't want to play through 82 games seasons and I probably won't have time.
