Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie
Max Pacioretty's 6 year contract extension with MTL has an AAV of $4.5M. Extension kicks in at end of next season.

Wow. Agressive move by M. Bergeron. If it's in the 5 range, great move.
Edit- 4.5. = GREAT signing.

He was easily a 4.5 M player type player this past year! This is unreal!

Sounds front-loaded. I'll bet he gets 28 million in signing bonuses in the first year alone, makes 97 million over the 6 years, and has a cap hit of 0.875M per season.

Don't want to take anything away from Patches but you guys were actually expecting $5M+? After only one terrific season?

Holy crap, hell of a contract! Bergy playing it very smart and signing Pacioretty to a great, long-term contract and Pacioretty is earning a pretty decent salary until he hits 30.
All three sides win; Pacioretty, Bergy and the fans.

Wow. 4.5M would be a great deal even before you factored in the premium you usually have to pay someone to play in Montreal.

Ridiculously good deal. Absolutely ridiculous Over a million less than what Jeff skinner got and it buys more UFA years than Skinner's contract.
Tremendous work by Bergevin.

Considering how everyone is praising a signing at 500K less as a terrific deal, $5M wouldn't have been a stretch by any means.

Look at what Jeff Skinner just signed for...yes, I was. We got THREE UFA years out of this and somehow kept the cap hit at less than 5 M. It's a coup.
