I get the justification, but he's right in that Chiarelli doesn't conduct negotiations in the media. When Boychuk and Thornton, to name just a couple of examples, signed their most recent contracts, Chiarelli said they'd been in talks for months. It's possible he hasn't talked to Seguin's agent at all, but it's also possible that they've been talking for some time. We have no way of knowing.

This has Phil Kessel written all over it.
I dont know why your getting so pessimistic. Chia and the Bruins front office know they have a real special player on their hands and this isnt the Bruins of Sinden days they make the extra effort to sign the good ones. Chiarelli could be in talks with him right now and keeping it behind the scenes or waiting to see what the new CBA holds. Seguin will get signed...this Bruins regime is smarter than the one of old and know if they dont sign him it will be a huuugggeee mistake.

Seguin will get signed. His agent is probably just being smart and waiting to see what kind of start Seguin has and Chiarelli also. Im sure Seguin wants to be here he seems like he really liikes it in Boston and loves the city.

I think Seguin is gonna be in BOston for a long time. If were lucky he will reach Bourque and Neely status as one of the best ever.

He seems to have a year up development wise on the last young sniper we had, but he's still alot closer to Phil then he is Bergeron. Seguin has alot of work to do, but you can tell he is really trying...played a good two way game vs Washington...Has to be much stronger on the puck as well, but that will come. I still have a hard time believing that the Bruins will make him their highest paid forward after only 3 years though...

Believe it Lou, they won't have much of a choice

I saw seguin put a ton of effort into his two way game last year, it was really a pleasure to watch. I can only imagine what he'll look like this season

This. I mean do you expect an email from Chia letting you that he is trying to negotiate but Segs and his agent and they are not returning his calls or something?! Seriously though, this team has shown that it gets these things done, and they do it when the time is right and we usually don't hear a thing about it until it is done. I am perfectly fine with this.
