Robin Big Snake

is showing some improved offensive statistics playing as an overage junior at his new team in Owen Sound.

GP-15 G-8 A-6 PTS-14 +4 PIM45

Perhaps Hartford is not out of the question if the lockout ends.

Yea it wont shock me if the Rangers still tried to sign him.

I don't think his ability was ever in question but rather his character.

I'd sign him just to sell his jersey alone!!!!!!

[Edit: Let's not go there, please.]

More on RBS -- through 31 games 18 goals and 13 assists along with 83 penalty minutes. Owen Sound is a very good junior team, perhaps second only to London in OHL so he should get to play deep into playoffs. If he was that good in training camp assume NYR will still have strong interest.

I bet we sign him and he takes over as the tough guy in Hartford as Grenier will prolly replace Purinton in NY.

Maybe with Charlotte having injuries, maybe Rangers will sign him and then assign him to Charlotte. That wont shock me either.

So what, you think he is going to be a second line scoring winger now? I dont know whats your point.

The guy is a 4th line grinder if he even can crack the NHL .NYR has enough wingers, well grinders they dont need any more the role needing help is 1st and 2nd line wingers.just cause you guys think he has a cool name or what ever doesnt mean NYR should sign him.

With a cool name like that, fans would not boo him in NY.

I say sign him and see what he can do in the minors. If he can proove that he can play on the 3rd/4th line it gives us options to use. We can have Murray, Hollweg, Ortmeyer, G. Moore, Big Snake, Byers, Falardeu, etc etc etc and just see who shows more heart and skill. At least we'll have some options as opposed to nothing. If anything, we sign him and let him go or trade him for a lower draft pick if it goes well.

I bet if we did sign Big Snake, we would sell alot of jerseys, and he would be the most talked about prospect. He has alot of heart and grit and maybe he is actually getting the ice time. Some players produce with alot of ice time, some players dont produce if they get too little.

It's harmless. But still, sometimes I wonder why people keep talking about marginal prospects as if they will be the savior of a franchise. It would be unlikely that Robin Big Snake will ever sell many jerseys in New York if he never plays here. And while he seems to be making a splash this year (hard to tell since we don't know his role, who he's playing with and his overall game), there is also the fact that he has now played on something like 4 Junior teams in 4-5 years.

Overall, it would be better to sign prospects to fill a hole the organization has, not because they may sell a few jerseys somewhere down the line.
