That is contingent on what constitutes "bouncing back"? If you mean a 30 point 3rd liner who can play spot duty in the top six, then probably. If you are referring to the way he played in the playoffs against the penguins, then no. He is too soft and injury prone to ever be a legitimate top six player.
If he stays healthy he should produce. He was off to a good start before he got injured. A guy to watch this season for sure, he's suddenly got a lot of competition.
No, his shoulder is messed up and he's played only 65 of Ottawa's last 164 games. I hope he recovers and plays well , but double shoulder injuries are bad news.
I believe in the player, but not his shoulder. That thing is a ticking time bomb unfortunately. I`d wager that his season will go similar to last. Show lots of promise through training camp and early season then a season ending injury. Really hope I`m wrong because he`s a really solid two way player capable of playing anywhere in the lineup imo.
Didn't he play a big part in the playoffs against the Penguins a few years ago? What happened to him?
He had a solid playoffs and since then has had shoulder problems courtesy a hit by Joey Crabbe (Regin was off balance and fell awkwardly into the boards, see YT below).
Feb 19, 2011 - Crabb Hit
Feb 23, 2011 - Left shoulder injury, day-to-day. (Missed last 23 games of regular season).
Oct 5, 2011 - Shoulder injury, injured reserve. (Missed 3 games).
10/22/2011 - Shoulder injury, day-to-day.
10/25/2011 - Shoulder injury, injured reserve (Missed 22 games).
12/22/2011 - Shoulder injury, injured reserve. (Missed 48 regular season and 7 playoff games, and counting).
Will he bounce back is a difficult question to answer, one probably best answered by doctors.

The concern I have with Regin is how weak his shoulder is.
I remember watching the game that it happened in, and I remember being shocked that anyone could get injured on a play like that. Watching it again, it is hard to see exactly what happened since it was on the near boards.
Incredible bad luck, or an incredibly wonky shoulder.
I hope he can bounce back. I can't imagine he has a lot of time left to establish himself as an NHL'er.
I hope he bounces back because I think he is a good fit for Maclean's system. He was playing well before he got hurt. Not scoring but he was playing good team hockey. I am hoping his injuries have been bad luck that he is past. Playing behind Turris and Spezza gives him the best opportunity he has had to date. I am pulling for him to succeed but I am not married to the idea
As long as he is healthy Regin will be a key part of the team: he's the perfect fit for Mac's system.
He might not produce much since I think the team will attempt to limit his ice time to reduce the chance of injury but I think he's a sure bet for 40 points if he used to the most of his ability.
1. I see no possible way that his shoulder holds up. That kind of recurring injury just doesn't go away. His shoulder is fundamentally flawed and can't handle the rigors of a contact sport like hockey.
2. Other players have had a chance to come up and potentially take his spot.
I like the guys game, alot, but I just don't see how he can stick.
I would like to see a second line of Regin - Turris - Alfi.
I think as long as Regin stays healthy he will have a good year. I doubt there is any real expectation from the fan base so anything he gets is really bonus.
