I really do, I'm not being delusional.

With all these prospects that we have, I think that some of them would be quite elite.

Of course within 5 years, our roster will be quite different and I'm assuming a lot of players would be gone because a lot of guys that are prospects now will be full time NHLers. I can't wait to see the results. I hope Burke doesn't get desperate and changes his pace by trading away assets to just make the playoffs.

No offense but this is what makes this sort of thread just...useless.

Leafs need to find a way to add high end talent, or luck out with some of our draft picks, or else we'll just be another 8th seed contender in a few years.

There isn't a team in the league you couldn't say this about.

What I mean is that players like Connolly, Lombardi, Komisarek, Liles, etc will be replaced by Blacker, Biggs, Rielly, Ashton, Colborne, Percy, McKegg etc.

Kadri would already make the roster this year.

But those players you listed could also be replaced in 5-8 years. See what I'm sayin?

I know, it's a slow off season.

Any team could in that timespan, really. Look at the roster now for many teams and compare it to what it was 5 years ago. This is not groundbreaking

Every single team in the NHL thinks they can win the cup in 5-8 years.

right, but you wait for 2026. That's the Leafs' year. The players that were born in 2002 look phenomonal right now. I saw this one kid named Jimmy, he can shoot like 60 MPH. That's outstanding for a 10 year old! Mark my words, the 2020 draft is going to be a beaut, and if the Leafs can stockpile the picks for that draft, the cup is easily ours in 2026.

You do realize that a 5-8 year period in the NHL is an extremely long period of time, right? I mean the difference between the 2010 Blackhawks and the 2002 Blackhawks is basically Toews, Kane, Keith, Sharp, Byfuglien Seabrook, etc. versus Arnason, Thibault, Bell, Amonte, Zhamnov, Sullivan...

Problem -- many other teams have BETTER prospects. Kadri is good. Reilly is very good. Many teams can beat that. Still not close.

This could be said for the other 29 teams as well. Hell we could even include teams that don't exist yet. 5-8 years is a very long time in the sports world.

So you think that our prospects make us a possible contender in a few years while simultaneously saying that the roster will be quite different and that a lot of the players will be gone?
