Someone will take Lackey, but they won't give us anything.
The reason? Doesn't he have an additional year now at the league minimum added to his contract because of the surgery?
That will be very appealing to some team. I mean, teams are desperate for pitching. Daisuke will get a deal next year somewhere.
If he doesn't continue to be a clubhouse jackass, the Red Sox should want him for that league-minimum year. League minimum for a 5th starter who is probably going to be one of the better back-of-the-rotation guys in the game is a good deal.
On FOX right now Rosenthal said baseball executives don't understand the deal from LA's point of view...basically saying you shouldn't have to give up two top prospects AND take on that much money. I agree with that...it is usually one or the other...you take on more money so you don't have to give up high end prospects.
Disregarding the money LA should (key word) have a great line-up next year with CC, Kemp, Ethier, Hanley, Gonzalez, AJ Ellis...I wonder if Boston will go after Victorino in the offseason on a shorter deal. I hope not.
