Anton Zlobin | Right Wing | Shawinigan (QMJHL) | 6th round, 173rd overall

Born: February 22 1993 in Moscow, Russia
Size: 5'11" / 194 lbs
Shoots: Right
Position: RW
Statistics: Eliteprospects
Player profile: Lighthousehockey.com

Quote:
"It took him until probably January last year to understand that he needed to play with more consistency in his game," said coach Eric Veilleux during our Memorial Cup Coach's Show on Tuesday night, "He's been great in learning, wanting to learn, and his work ethic changed totally from the beginning of 2010-11 to the beginning of training camp this season. He came in great physical condition, great shape. Scouts saw a consistency in his game from day one..."
Spent the last two years with the Shawinigan Cataractres in the Q. Last season he put up 40 goals, followed up with 10 points in 11 playoff games and finally scoring 5 goals and 4 assists in 6 games to help his team win the Memorial Cup. Will play for Val d'Or this upcoming season.

I think this could be a late round steal for you guys.

Funny that Melrose was just talking about Robitaille and Datsyuk going at #171 and this guy went at #173!

He is not big at 5'11 but has a very quick and accurate wrister. He is an overager but he really improved over his previous season not just in production. He also went on a strength program in the summer and was much stronger this past season when facing bigger dmen. Nice moves but will also score some goals off rebounds and one-timer.

Scored winner in Memorial Cup

Had 40 goals last season...as many as Grigorenko. Obviously he is not Grigorenko but still impressive.

I like him a lot. If you put him with Malkin and someone like Neal you could have a very nice line.

I had him going in the 3rd or 4th round, surprising to see Shero take a chance with a Russian

I like the pick, he has a lot of offensive upside and not a bad pick for a 6th.

To be honest, this is a guy we might wanna keep our eye on.

Sadly...with how far away he may be...I hope he doesn't hop to the K.

We could be looking at a future Malkin winger here...impressive.

That was actually Tomas Hyka, who went to Los Angeles, I believe.

I'm surprised that Flyers didn't pick Hyka given that they were ready to give him a contract last summer.

Hurra! My Memorial Man! Psyched about him and Marcantuoni.

Might never amount to anything, but Zlobin in particular is the kind of boom/bust I like in the latter rounds. Who cares if a 6th rounder becomes nothing..... but the kid can finish!

Longshot, but in the 6th round this is the type of guy you go for, IMO. A guy who may not be a lock to be a pro, but who at least has produced in junior.

I think his transition to North America wasn't easy for him.
Now that he knows what to expect, I believe that he will have a very productive season in Val d'Or, where he was recently traded.

I really like this pick. Here is his game winning goal from the Memorial Cup, along with his post-game interview via PG Empty Netters.

Screw Adams. Our seventh d would be Dumoulin.

I believe Parise will stay in NJ and the rumours around him are nonsense.

So to me the lineup in the future is more like this;

Kuhnhackle-Crosby-Bennett
Zlobin-Malkin-Neal
Tangradi-Sutter-Marcantouni
Sill-Vitale-Kennedy

Letang-Despres
Morrow-Pouliot
Harrington-Maatta
Dumoulin

MAF

Was he suspended for taking out the linesman at the end of the video?
