It's just not right. Would MacArthur have broken out on Atlanta? Unlikely. Would Lupul have been a PPG player on Anaheim? Nope. Players sometimes just aren't getting the necessary time or development on the team they are on, so it's unlikely they ever break out on it. New team brings a fresh chance and new opportunities that weren't available on the old team.

Schenn will have those on Philly. He may have had them on the Leafs with a new coach but it's likely that his confidence needed a boost that only a move to another team could do.
Exactly, this is where I'm at with the Kessel trade. Sure he is developing with the players he plays with in boston but as a stand alone player in toronto he might be putting up 30 points on his way to being David legwand offensively.

I like almost all of his moves and some are tough to pick. I like:
- Gardiner + Lupul
- Morgan Rielly
- Phaneuf
- Kessel....unfortunate that Toskala couldn't save a beach and helped Boston
- Kadri....still hoping for bigger things from him
- J.S. Giguere....unfortunate about groin injury....helped Boston again
- Kaberle
- MacArthur
- dumping Versteeg
- firing Wilson

Ok trades:
- JVR....both players needed a change and hopefully both will prosper

Did not like:
- Trading Kubina
- Trading Aulie

I'm sure there are many out there chomping at the bit to rip him apart but before you do that, lets just remember how many bad decisions JFJ made before him. There were so many bad trades and draft picks that I'm glad he's gone. Him and his fudiciary responsibility.

I think that is size enough. I rather have defenders who can move the puck, have high hockey IQ and are good skaters then big, gritty ones who get out of position all the time.

With Biggs, Frattin, Ashton and Ross we will have the grit and size needed in the line up. And they can crash and bang where it does not matter as much if they get out of position, far away from our own net.
I don't think i worded it properly, how about size with grit.

No I understood you. My personal opinion is that grit among defenders is down the priority list, well they cant be soft either but I rather have the gritty ones higher up the ice.

And Blacker is pretty gritty, so is Granberg and I think Finn have been described as rather though to.

Grit is easier to add than high end guys like Rielly anyway
