I understand that the announcing can be funny, but it really gets to me for some reason. I mean, did Thorne and Clement get different scripts? Thorne says, "Passes to Ham House" and then Clement says something like, "Oh, Hamius (Ham-yous, the correct way to pronunciate it) crushed him!" Even the scoreboard announcer gets it correct when he gets a penalty or whatever. So somehow Clement knows and Thorne is just a huge idiot? I dont know. (Sidenote: I am an English teacher so that may be why it bothers me so much.)

On the plus side, Balej is amazing after like 2 seasons.

Wow people still play EA Hockey games?

Pissed that EA snagged the ESPN lisence, but as long as SEGA keeps putting out the only decent hockey videogame on the market, i'll keep buying it

EA has alwasy blown away ESPN sales (Hockey game). I havnt seen the figures for this year but most likely ESPN won since the game was only 20 bucks.

Oh EA will always sell a lot, they are a marketing juggernaut. But their games (hockey at least) haven't been any good at all in a long time.

Ive been an EA fan till this year, I decided to buy NHL2k5 instead. And it is well worth it. I can edit Bobby Holik and players that are in the game which is cool. All the heights and weights are accurate, since i updated all the players. They had Rick Nash 6'2 I think. And he is actually 6'4. I also made Lampman, Balej, Lundmark and all the other players their actually heights and weights. They had Murray 6'0 210 I think. He is more like 6'2 215. They had Mark Bell 6'2 and he is like 6'4. Its better to get things more accurate, and yes I made Poti's checking a 25 or so. :lol At least its more realistic.

get this...in EA, Poti is considered a "Checking Defenseman" with checking of 89. I mean, come on.

I forgot, that's ANOTHER THING that i was really mad about, the ages. Zherdev is like 30! What the hell? And Patrice Bergeron? 25 (I think, I know he is not 18-19) I can't believe they could make this oversight. How hard is it to tell how old a guy is. It's not like the players have defected from Cuba and are trying to get larger contracts *Ahem Soriano and El Duque Cough*

At least u can edit them. If it is true bout Poti being a checking dman in EA NHL 2005 and if u cant edit them, then that really is unrealistic. The day Poti hits, is the day he will win the Norris trophy.

He won the Norris trophy in my game in 2005(EA). (and im being serious too). The next season i had him benched for about 55 games since I dont like playing as him and I wanted the younger guys playing. That is your reward Poti.

yea its more realistic. I have scores like 2-1, 4-1, 5-2. And the shots are even. I play the same style that Renney mentioned in Future Blue part 2, the same exact style as the Pack are playing now.

I prefer ESPN. However I think Sega Sports is done making hockey games, Take Two just purchased Visual Concepts so hopefully they will continue to make a quality hockey series.

Currently in my 2nd season of a Rangers 2k5 franchise:

D. Moore-Nylander-Jagr
M. Draper (1st round pick)-Holik-Balej
Lundmark-Malholtra-Ortmeyer
Murray-Wiseman-Adam Hall

Tyutin-Pock
Trevor Daley-Steve Eminger
Rachunek-Kondratiev

Weekes
Blackburn

Currently 5-2-0 after beating the Flyers 2-0 in my last game. Playing on Allstar with custom sliders that have been working rather well. Scores have been anywhere from 2-1, 1-1, 3-0, to 6-5, 5-1, 4-2.

Love this game.

Yea this game is awesome. I did not start a franchise as of yet, but I do play alot of the exhibition games and my lines are usually this:

Wiseman - Moore - Jessiman
Korpikoski - Lundmark - Balej
Giroux - Hollweg - Crabb/Dubinsky
Murray - Helminen - Ortmeyer

Kondratiev - Tyutin
Lampman - Rachunek
Liffiton - Taylor

Do you find that the hitting is absolutely insane in EA's game? and the interference as well... and no league leader board...
