I think CV is resigned and if we only get 1 starter, he'll be given a chance to fill the 5 hole with Happ as the 4th.

If we get 2 and CV resigns he'll be in the pen and the first option to start, essentially a 6th starter.

Any predictions on who comes up when rosters expand?

I think....

Carpenter
Carreno
Beck
Cecil
Jenkins (if sent down for Morrow)
Crawford
Gomes
Gose/Sierra (whichever is sent down when Bautista comes back)

Dyson is on the bubble. Already a bunch of pitchers coming up.

And that assumes Hech is still up when sept 1 hits. If he's not, hes coming up.

Giolito to have TJ surgery. Glad the Nats grabbed him just before our pick this year.

TJ surgery isn't really a big deal. I still wish Jays could have taken him.

Our pick, DJ Davis is doing pretty good though so far. Went 2-4, and hit a HR. Hitting .361 in Bluefield.

Also some guy named Jose Bautista went 2-4, grandslam, HR, walk, strikeout in NH. Too old to be much of a prospect.

It's awesome to see Davis doing so well.

I'm more then cool with dealing Gose this offseason.

Having Rasmus, then Marisnick and DJ Davis at CF pretty much has us set at that position for along time.

Well, Davis is a LONG way away and Marisnick is just in AA and struggling there. I would like to keep Gose but I would be fine with trading him if we can get a good pitcher back.

I wonder how much this recent stint from Gose hurts his trade value if at all.

AA wanted gose for soo long and I doubt he trades him. remember gose is not ready for The Show. Gose was not even supposed to be here this season anyways. He still needs a year of seasoning in triple A.

this,
davis is 4 or 5 years away. Marisnick will not be ready for maybe another 2 years. Gose I think is untouchable though, I'm not willing to trade him, He is struggling because he is not ready

Wow, you're about a year late to the party.

I still have a soft spot for him, but have absolutely no expectations.

They sure as hell better spend in the offseason, otherwise it will be the same old "out of contention in August routine" that we've seen here for the last 19 years.

Theres no way Gose is untouchable and this is coming from someone whos been a Gose supporter from the day we aquired him. Even tho both Marisnick and Davis are aways from the majors, we have a young CF whos already proven and moving Gose over to LF really limits his value. If Gose can be packaged with something else to bring in a really good pitcher then Im more then cool with it.

Imagine you're some AA pitcher facing the guy who hit the most home runs in the majors the past 2 seasons?

I am happy that this wrist injury has not zapped him of his power. That was my main concern when he injured it originally.

what happens if they don't spend to your liking in the off season? You'll post one more time during the year?

I wonder what the cost to aquire Choo and Masterson in a package would be.
Looks like Cleveland will most likely go in a full rebuild and possibly deal those 2 and it would fill 2 of our holes. They are weak in prospects in the OF and 1B so I could see them having interest in all of Gose, Sierra, Cooper. We'd have to give up more but I think there could be a fit between the two teams. Choo would give us a much needed LH'ed bat that can get on base.

Choo + Masterson + free agent #3/#4 pitcher and we would look like a really good team.

Edit : Just looked at Mastersons season stats and damn. Hes had just a awful year so far. Would be interesting to see how high the Indians value him.

Masterson's season hasn't been that bad. If anything it's been just average.

You're right. Looking into his advanced stats shows he hasn't been as bad as his surface numbers make it look.

I think targeting those two from Cleveland is a great idea Weems. Put Choo in LF and you can bat him several places in he lineup. Masterson slides in as your #3.

I've wanted Choo all year. Would be interesting to see if they could trade for those two, and still afford to sign Haren and Ortiz...

Lineup

LF Choo
CF Rasmus / 3B Lawrie
RF Bautista
DH Ortiz
1B Encarnacion
3B Lawrie / CF Rasmus
C Arencibia / d'Arnaud
2B Johnson
SS Escobar

Morrow
Haren
Masterson
Romero
Happ/Alvarez/Villaneuva/Laffey

Lincoln
Loup
Delabar
Janssen
Santos

Now THAT looks like a playoff-worthy roster. If Romero bounces back he can move up in the rotation.

Try to aquire Kyle Seager from SEA and play him at 2B which I believe is his natural position. I also like Christian Friedrich on COL as a young SP option.

Anybody still think Trout doesn't get the MVP award? He hasn't cooled down or anything. He became the youngest player to steal 40 bases in a season since Ty Cobb, is on pace for hitting 30 home runs and stealing 55 bags. Has a cool .345/.410/.601 stat line. Nobody in the AL can even hold a candle to him.
