Preface... I hate Semin, but I could easily see a roster like this going into next season.

You and I had essentially the same roster (I had Garrison in, not Carle). I'm not a fan of Semin either, however I can the Flyers wanting to add a pure scorer on Giroux's wing. I can definitely see them going after him should they lose out on the Parise sweepstakes and Jagr walks. Again, not a fan of him at all though.
Like I said, the roster I made isn't one I like either. I don't want Semin, but I think it's pretty clear that the Flyers want a first line finisher along Giroux's wing. I suspect they get turned away by Parise and rather than go into next season with 5+ million in cap space, the Flyers throw that money at someone else.
To me, it's clear that Carle is going to be resigned on July 1 for between 4.5M and 5M. I think that deal is done (a la Chris Kelly with the Bruins), but can't be signed/announced due to tagging.
That leaves essentially 2 roster spots up for grabs barring a major trade (always a possibility)....
1.) First line scoring winger
2.) 4th line defensive center
If the Flyers were so inclined and get turned away by all the top wingers, they could splurge a bit more on the 4th line and move Wellwood up to the third.
Could we pull off Doan and Gaustad instead of Parise or is Doan definitely re-signing in Phoenix?
I haven't seen anything on it.
I think it is assumed that a deal gets worked out there. No one anywhere is even considering Shane Doan a UFA. He'd be an amazing hit here (or anywhere for that matter) as a second line wing.
Doan - Briere - Schenn would be a very nice second line. Much better than the roster I proposed above.
No way they should sign Semin. Homer loves to go after top available players, but he isn't one of them. One of Parise/Ryan/Yandle/Weber I am hoping Homer will find a way to bring on the team which I am sure he is trying to do.

To be honest i don't think we need anymore explosive players. We need more soldiers that do the grunt work. I get tired of us bringing in more and more top players. We need to let the young top talent we have develop into better players and men. They can't do that when you sign Parise.

I'm sure he'd trying to go that too, but think about each of those players.
Parise - Open bidding war
Weber - unavailable and even if he becomes available, it means that B. Schenn or Couturier is going the other way... which they have been pretty firm isn't happening
Yandle - maybe, maybe you can get him for Voracek, Read, +, but they will demand Schenn I bet
Ryan - most possible... maybe, maybe you can swing Voracek, Mezsaros, ++ for him, but I seriously doubt it.

How about this:

I'd do anything for Ryan sans Giroux, Couturier or Schenn. With JVR now moved, idk if that's possible.
Idk if I'd move jake for him though. Jake is too important to the defensive responsibility of our forwards to trade him for Ryan, who is average at best defensively.
I would LOVE Ryan though. He's been my favorite non-flyer since his junior days. I just don't see a way to swing a trade for him at this point.
It's weird, it seems everyone would be fine with Leighton being a backup at less than 1M. Weird feeling I guess...
It's ambivalence. Someone will be our back-up at between 750-950k. A list of like 6-8 guys, some better than others, who will play 15-20 games total next season.

We have room in our top 9 for one more forward (unless a rookie like cousins or noebels or akeson etc etc makes it). I like Wellwood alot bu dont know how he would do on the 3rd line all season. I can also see lavy throwing rinaldo up there for the hell of it even though he shouldnt be there. Even with parise couts and b.schenn will get the minutes.

Instead of Parise, I think we should take someone a bit older but still good, like Doan. Tough, experienced, and can still put up good points.
I can see doan leaving....He wpuld be a good choice but honestly cant see it.
He could probably command 3.5M to 4M because of his age, but I seriously think he can keep going for a while. The way he plays fits Flyers hockey as well.
