Jiri Novotny

How is this guy doing novadays? I found the stats, but they donīt tell everything... What are the realistic expectations? Is he really worth of 1st round pick? Someone can tell something about his performance in Rochester?

Thanks!

I think the overwelming response you will find is that he is a major disapointment. He's playing on the 4th line in the AHL. While he's been doing an acceptable job, but it's the 4th line! I think that there is more hope for Artem Kriukov making the team in the near future than Novotny. If Novotny's hope we to make it in the NHL as a 4th line center with no offensive upside and some size, he's still far behind Paul Gaustand and Chris Thorburn.

Novotny = a healthy Mosovsky. I'm banking on a similar outcome....at least as far as his future with the Sabres is concerned.

Gave the puck away in his own end last night. Can't figure out how he gets PP time.

Darcy Regier is responsible for that one.

He could possibly be one of the most out of place looking players I've ever seen stick with an AHL organization so long. Honestly, salary aside, they are doing him a disservice by keeping him up in the AHL. If anything, for a guy who is susposed to be playing in a scoring and playmaking role, he should be in the ECHL honing his skills, because he isn't doing justice to the third line.

The guy is afraid, and incompetent with the puck....he makes some of the stupidest moves possible simply to avoid getting hit.

For a guy who is in his 3rd season, albeit the first 2 were injury plagued, he hasn't improved enough if at all....especially to justify his draft position.

I'll be surprised, without a tremendous improvement throughout the end of the season and the playoffs, if the Sabres sign him to another deal.
