I'm just curious to see where everyone thinks the players will go if there is a lockout. The leafs already have a deep farm team, so i think it will hurt a lot of players development if players go to the marlies.

They'll go golfing as usual.

I think Frattin, Kadri, and Gardiner would still be able to play for the Marlies, not sure about anyone else.

Obviously you can't know for certain how long a lock-out will be, but if there's a feeling it'll only be 2-3 months then I bet a lot of players won't go anywhere.

Perhaps this is a stupid comment/question, but would the lockout not also affect the AHL?

No. It's a separate league.

Donald Fehr was on Prime time sports talk last week discussing the possibility of setting up exhibition games between NHL players and KHL in case of a lockout.

Non-contact International Hockey League or NCIHL?

I would actually love to see that. My only quarrel would be who gets the "home ice advantage." Not in the where it is going to be played but rather if it an international rink or a NHL rink. If memory serves me right the NHL has a smaller ice surface than international play.

Well they would only be exhibition games so the results wont matter as much but Fehr is one smart guy if he has thought of all that already.

I'm sure Russians would love to see guys like Ovechkin, Malkin, Datsyuk etc + all the other super stars of the NHL so those games would still have a huge impact over here and there as far as fan following is concerned.

. It is a fun speculation thread. It's the dog days of August, not every thread will be oozing with Leafs information.

The Marlies will be a great option when there is a lock out.

How are the clan shaping up this year, I've not really been paying attention since they messed about with the division
