I didn't know you had to move the controller over to select a team. So I was playing NHL13 Demo and it took me 3 games to realize that I wasn't actually controlling the players! I thought I was a natural!

Are we allowed to start discussing trades now? If yes, Lecavalier is available, if you're interested, PM me.

Going to have to back out, guys. My sincerest apologies. Thought I'd have more time to dedicate to the game but unfortunately, I only have enough time on my hands for one GM league. Again, sorry.

Are we going to have some rules for trading?

In this http://hfboards.hockeysfuture.com/showthread.php?t=1250777 there are some good ones, and at least this one should be considered:

Quote:
5) Only trading of original assets before the game release. Ex. Can't trade crosby for Toews, and then trade Toews. This excludes prospects/picks obtained. Those assets are free to switch teams.

I don't know if we're allowed to discuss trades yet, but if so: Sens here. Looking to get a little bit younger on the back end. Phillips, Kuba, and Gonchar are on the block. Not looking for anyone properly young, but rather just younger. Guys in the 25-30 range.

Also, I'm in favour of the "can only trade original assets before release" rule.

Here is a short explanation what is the situation of Colorado Avalanche franchise.

We are an emerging team, not counting on getting to playoffs in season 1. However picks won't interest us that much as we are midway through our rebuild. Should we trade one of our young core, we need quality back.

We are interested:
- roster players who can help now
- nhl-ready (or almost) prospects
- 2013 picks

We are not interested:
- Veterans with short contracts (our window isn't open yet)
- 2014 picks and forward

Needs: D
Surplus: F

Untouchables are only Landeskog & Erik Johnson

Trade Block:
D: Ryan Wilson (76), Ryan O'Byrne (76)
F: Chuck Kobasew (78)

I'm against this rule. I don't see an immediate problem it solves. It only limits team building.

Team Outlook

Fans are becoming to become restless with the lack of progress but the talent in youth is in spades. It may not be “the year” yet but it coming fast upon us.
The Islanders might not be contenders this year but they do plan on challenging for the playoffs, and the wait before they become perennial contenders is almost over, and the reward for the loyal fans is soon to come.

Lines

Moulson [82] (3,133,333) - Tavares [85] (5,500,000) – Boyes [80] (1,000,000)

Offensively the workload is placed once again on John Tavares to improve on his 81 point season and become a star in this league. The supporting cast now includes Brad Boyes in hopes that we will reclaim his scoring touch.

Bailey [76] (1,050,000) - Nielson [80] (2,750,000) – Okposo [81] (2,800,000)

The most glaring hole is the need for a true second line centre letting Nielsen drop down to 3rd line centre.

Grabner [81] (3,000,000) - Cizikas [71] (900,000) – Ullstrom [70] (891,666)

Martin [71] (RFA {1,200,000 aprox}) – Reasoner [73] (1,350,000) – Joensuu [70?] (600,000)
Bolton [70?] (540,000)

The bottom two lines are filled with a collection of prospects that are hoping to become the unsung heroes of the team.

Streit [82] (4,100,000) – Hamonic [79] (875,000)

The development of Hamonic will continue to be the key for the future of the Islanders and will continue to try and become the #1 defensemen they need.

Visnovsky [82] (5,600,000) – MacDonald [81] (550,000)

He will count on the veteran presence that both Captain Streit and newly acquired Visnovsky bring.

Carkner [74] (1,500,000) – deHann [70?] (1,470,000)
Donovan [71] (875,000)

The spot beside Carkner is up for grabs but it seems like deHann will finally be able to stay on the NHL roster.

Nabakov [81] (2,750,000)

DiPietro [81] (4,500,000)

Nabakov will continue to be the starter but watch out for Poullin who looks to challenge the 67.5 million dollar man DiPietro out of the backup spot.

Salary Outlook

Salary - 46,934,999
Buyouts (Yashin) - 2,204,000
Total Payroll - 49,138,999
Cap – 70,200,000
Cap Space – 21,061,001

Prospects
1. Ryan Strome
2. Griffin Reinhart
3. Kevin Poulin
4. Nino Niederreiter
5. Brock Nelson
6. Anders NIlsson
7. Kirill Kabanov
8. Scott Mayfield

Draft Picks

Islanders 1st
Islanders 3rd
Islanders 4th
Canadians 4th
Islanders 5th
Islanders 6th
Islanders 7th

The Islanders are not going to sacrifice the future in hopes of squeaking into the playoffs. This means that unless something substantial is coming back the top prospects and future picks will unlikely be moved.

Trading Block

Anyone can be had for the right place (an offer for Tavares would need to be exceptional)
Would like to move expiring contracts like Nabokoc, Streit, Visnovsky and if you’re feeling bold DiPietro.

Improvements
A top scoring winger to complement Tavares
A shut down defensemen
A 2nd line centre

Calgary GM here! As it stands right now I am not selling Kipper, Iggy unless it is an overpayment. I am looking to acquire a top 4 D-Man in exchange for a 5-6 D-Man and a top 9 forward. Message if any interest

Projected Line-up
Alex Tanguay (83) - Mike Cammalleri (85) - Jarome Iginla (85/87)
Curtis Glencross (82) - Roman Cervenka (??) - Jiri Hudler(81)
Sven Baertschi(??)/Lee Stempniak (80) - Mikael Backlund(77)/ Matt Stajan(82) - Blake Comeau (79)
Tim Jackman(71) - Blair Jones (71)- Roman Horak (71)

Jay Bouwmeester(86) - Denis Wideman(82)
Mark Giordano(85) - Cory Sarich (80)
Chris Butler(78) - Anton Babchuk (79)
Derek Smith (??)

Kipper
(87)
Karlsson (77)

Obviously a lot of potential moves are going to depend on the actual ratings (Iggy is 85 on the EA website but 87 on the demo) I am unaware of the overall for Baertschi, Cervenka, Brodie and Irving (all who should be on my starting roster) and Nemisz, Aliu and Bouma (potential 4th liners) as you can see I have a surplus off top 9 forwards and bottom pairing D-Men.

Top Prospects: (took out guys who aren't gonna be in the game, Gaurdreau, Jankowski, Granlund)

-Sven Bartschi
-T.J Brodie
-Leland Irving
-Max Reinhart
-Roman Horak
-Greg Nemisz
-Laurent Broissoit
-Paul Byron
-Michael Ferland
-Tyler Wootherspoon

Team Wants:
Top 4 D-Man

Team Surplus:
Top 9 Forwards (primarily wingers)
Bottom Pairing/Depth Defensemen

Bolded = Untouchable
Italicized = Willing to move

Everyone has there price though XD

I will consider all offers

Hey boys coyotes here!

Projected Lines:
Sullivan (79) - Hanzal (80) - Doan (82)
Boedker (78) - Vermette (73) - Vrbata (82)
Moss (78) - Gordon (77) - Korpikoski (81)
Torres (75) - Chipchura (73) - Bissonette (69)

Michalek (86) - Yandle (83)
Ekman Larsson (82) - Klesla (82)
Morris(83) - Schlemko (77)

Smith (84)
Labarbera (77)

Prospects:
-Brandon Gormley
-David Runblad
-Mark Visentin
-Connor Murphy
-Michael Stone
-Lucas Lessio
-Henrik Samuelsson
-Brett Maclean

Improvements: Looking to add top 3 and top 6 forwards, top 2 d-man

Trading Block: Sullivan, Labarbera, Chipchura, Gordon, top 4 d-men. There are no untouchables on my team, but I'd like to keep my prospects. I wouldn't mind taking on large contracts or salary dumps as part of a trade, and future draft picks are up for trade, not looking to rebuild, but trying to fill the holes up front! I appreciate all offers!
