Edit: 5.5? Awesome.
6.5 for his 31-36 year old seasons? Seems steep. Either way he's a really good player, I wonder if there's a NMC.

We're going to pay handsomely by signing him now for last year's offensive output. I don't think he's going to recreate that kind of offensive season again in his career.

Oh well. Good to have him, and I'm glad we get the contract done before the CBA even if it's going to cost us money.

Briere's play hasn't warranted it. Too lazy, too many stupid penalties. Kimmo is likely done after this year and Giroux is too young. I'm not crazy about it being Hartnell because he's a bit of a goof but I think he's probably the best choice, especially now since he's extended and I'm sure he has an NTC.

Agreed.

I'd rather have him than not have him.

I think he and Roo will play with a better winger than JJ ( terrible drop off) this year, Harts getting 40 this year is not out of the question imo.

There are 5 legitimate candidates. Kimmo, Briere, Giroux, Hartnell, and Talbot. Outside horse is Coburn.

I plan on it being Kimmo, but Briere is probably second. Then Giroux after which of them gets it.

Briere had a rough regular season but that is it. He has the pedigree and the respect of players to tell them what to do and have it mean something. hartnell is one of those keeps everyone loose cracks a joke type guys... which are essential in my book , but briere has that dont mess with me demeanor that keeps guys in line. Kimmo as well.

I don't think it's going to be 5.5 million a year. We know how crappy our beat writers can be, so I will wait for the official number. Not mad about the cap hit, but could be lower IMO. We will wait and see.

If the team names a captain it will be Claude Giroux no question he is the flyers.

I consider 4.5m fair, so let's see how much we overpay.

Anthony now works for the Flyers though and he has always been pretty reliable.

That's better. I think Anthony was fishing for HI to repost his numbers. He called him out right away.

Giroux cannot sign one right now. Malkin is in the same boat, I bet he would like to get mega paid and Pit would like to lock him up.

Need to be in last year of your deal to extend.

This is a great deal. Hartnell has bounced around every year between many different partners and he always produces and gives 100%. Glad this is over.

Wasn't ASF supposed to be the new Flyers' insider or something? How the hell is it he isn't getting the info?

If hartnell is 4.75 that is a fair trade for the flyers. he gets the years the team gets the aav.

Yep.

I think this is why you have seen so many extensions being signed.
