This is a fair deal for both sides. He still has a year to go and it takes him into old geezer territory so the number is good. $5.5 worried me!

The problem is that last year was likely an anomaly.
Being one of the more consistent contributors, I could see him staying consistent long into his 30s.

Think of Knuble. A lot of the guys who peak early fizzle out early, but the guys who play a similar style to Hartnell's and produce around 45-60 every year end up staying in that range through 35.

I always thought that if a player can take the media heat in philly there are few better places to play, everything is first class.

Scotty has seen the good and bad side of the fans here, took the discount. It's too bad G can't be extended, snider might have set a record with that one.

Hopefully. I do look forward to the tag team of Simmonds and Harts buzzing around the crease; picking up those dirty goals.

That is easily how we got top production out of both of them; and when Lavy changed the strategy we saw both's production decrease dramatically.

Hopefully they all learned something by that.

Don't let the players you want hit the FA! Awesome job keeping a fan favorite and someone with a plethora of skills (skating not one of them).

This team is uber stacked. Regardless of how we do in the playoffs this team will be entertaining as hell.

Great cap hit, again (if the $4.75M figure is correct).

6 years is a little long, but clearly necessary to get Hartnell for under $5M.

Good price tag for Hartsy, love this guy heart and soul Flyer through and through good job Homer, remember to break the bank for G, I never want to see him leave Philly, I know it's not possible until next year but I'm sure Homer is chaffing at the bit to get #28 locked up for a long time

5.0-5.5m was the right call for posters to guess.

The only reason it isn't that is the additional years, which should be more of a surprise than the number 4.75m.

The 6th year is a huge for an aging forward. He had to take less money per in order to get it.

Glad to have him.

As a rule, management shies away from publicizing contractual details. For him to post a salary figure in this instance is odd but perhaps he maintains a connection unaffiliated with the team. In that aspect, he wouldn't be releasing details as a member of the organization since writing for the Flyers' site doesn't necessarily mean he is an employee of the staff. It's unlikely someone from hockey ops or the team's PR staff cited that figure. Could be an agent/rep of Hartnell or perhaps a third party.

Let's not forget that if there is a rollback, this deal looks even better.
