He's driving me nuts. He is way too far back when he receives and his backhand is regressing. This is a terrible set. Blanco MUST see this.

Count me in for a new coach, too. Preferably soon.

When you are winning 15 of 18 net points at this stage of the match (83%), all that really means is you are not going up there enough. Get somebody who will build his confidence around his volleys.

Yup. Glad you're here--I can stop the play by play on the previous page.

Truly lousy hold for Giraldo, though. Maybe they will both lose.

How the hell is Giraldo in the top 50? I can say with 100% confidence I have a better net game than him.

Thanks for that, I haven't had a chance to breathe yet and now I'm here to watch this poop.

This is hideous tennis. This is like watching the Pens/Flyers series, nothing but mistakes. Awful. Torture chamber is right.

Milos keeps letting Giraldo hang around despite numerous opportunities to stab him.

You probably have a better serve than he does, too; his first serve averages about 107 mph.

Officially 55 unforced errors for Milos, but I bet it was closer to 65 or even 70. Scoring officials in general have become very lenient in what constitutes an unforced error these days.

Yeah? Do you normally hit volleys as top ATP players are trying to pass you or blow your head off?

That's on the low end of the spectrum but it's not unheard of, especially over a long five set match.

Did you see the volleys he missed? I could've headed them back over the net...

Well certainly not a convincing or pretty win but still a win. He'll have some time now before the second round to get his **** together. 30 year old Paul-Henri Mathieu (128 ranked) up next.

I don't know. Although he has won a bunch of five setters later, Mathieu has historically been just as capable a choker as Giraldo. Could be another ugly one if Raonic doesn't pull his act together.

Do you actually know the number? I'm guessing your just blowing smoke rings up your own ass, again, like you so often do. But I will crunch some numbers in the next couple of days and see what it actually is because I'm curious.

You're such a clown. The US Open site is now listing it at 103 MPH on average. Goffin hit 106 MPH on average. It's a bad number but the only one here blowing smoke rings up his ass is the guy who thinks an amateur can "probably" average 107 MPH at 75% first serves, or exceed that in any other way.

No, I haven't made a bell curve of all average first serve speeds of all players if that's what you think my post implied.

Good university level and club level amateurs can whack serves that fast, no problem.

My bad, my bad. I read the post in a rush and thought that you were referring to the 55 error number, not the service number. I still think that's a good stat to look up, though. You really need valium sometimes.
