The Bluth Company Playoff Thread! 2012-13 Season

Here it is boys. All things playoffs! Just like HF Boards does during the real NHL season, i've decided to devote any and all playoff talk to its own specific thread.

Rules:

-Pending longterm inactivity, all games must be played User vs User
-Unfished series will be AUTOMATICALLY SIMMED

A series does not have to be finished in one night, but this league does have to move quickly. Otherwise 16+ GMs will be waiting for weeks to start up their next season. The Start and End dates of each round will be listed below. Any series not completed by the end date will be simmed, regardless of situation/activity/anything.

-If a GM goes inactive and informs the other GM they wont be able to play their games (i.e. DET GM needing to study for Mid terms)...

1) Team A plays games 1 and 2 of the series versus Team B's CPU. Team B plays games 3 and 4 of the series versus Team A's CPU (each team plays their CPU games on home ice). Then the remaining games will just be simmed.

-If a GM goes inactive and does NOT inform the other GM of their inactivity...

2) Allow Team A to play the Games 1, 2, 3, and 4 of the series versus Team B's CPU

-If a Disconnect were to occur, the two teams must start up a new game and resume play where the old game left off.

Example: Chicago plays Vancouver, Chicago lags out in the 3rd period and the score is 4-1 Chicago with 8:43 left in the 3rd. Chicago and Vancouver must start up a new game. The two GMs can stand around if they want or just screw around, doesn't matter to me. But the score going into the 3rd period WILL be 4-1 in the 3rd period with roughly 9 minutes left to play

Round 1:

FINISHED

Round 2:

Starting Date: Wednesday, October 24th
Ending Date: Thursday night, October 25th (11pm-12am)

Round 3:

Starting Date: Friday, October 26th
Ending Date: Saturday night, October 27th (12am-3am depending on when i get home)

Round 4: STANLEY CUP FINALS!!!

Starting Date: Sunday, October 28th
Ending Date: Monday night, October 29th (12am)
=================================================

*All times are US Central Time
*SCF is 3 days long due to Halloween
*Season should resume Friday, November 2nd

I just want to clarify again boys, for the sake of the league and in fairness to the other 16+ GMs not in the playoffs, i will absolutely advance the schedule on these days. Its on all of you to get your games in one of the two ways i've made available. Simming a playoff series would be such a drag for the teams involved, and for myself, but if i wait around for every series to have all of their games in the playoffs might not be done until November 7th.

Chicago vs Vancouver 4 out of 5 years! If i mysteriously vanish from the league its because i had a heart attack mid game and died.

FALSE. This is not at all the way to handle the playoffs boys. Like its said in the OP, i will absolutely, without question, be advancing the schedule on the days listed above.

Its up to all of you guys to schedule your games. You all HAVE to send messages to your other GMs and set up your games. Any GM not doing this will be put on Activity Watch and i'll consider dropping them from the league, regardless of previous activity.

It takes 2 minutes, especially with only 1 GM to message. Simply inexcuseable not to do it with all of the various tools you're provided.

That was the turning point of the game. I had 3 shots in the 1st and 3rd combined, but 13 in the 2nd. After that goal buffalo didn't look back.

Lost a very frustrating game 1 to Montreal, 5-3, tried to play the puck with my goalie twice and both times Marty just let it go for the easy tap in goal.

Game 2, its 2-2 going into OT and Montreal disconnects and I don't hear back as to what happened....

Wonderful way to start the playoffs.

Just wondering, but how will you know who's been messaging who?

UGH I'm really pissed, this is ridiculous, if I disconnect from a game I'd immediately get on here or on Xbox and let the person know what happened. Come on Montreal.

Whatever, I'm going to bed.

Who knows, maybe something happened to his Internet and he can't connect to neither Xbox nor HF.

my guess is his internet completely went out and he couldn't come on here.
whenever you guys decide to play again you should just stand there and get to where you left off and go into OT.

In order for me to know that a GM is inactive I think I'm going to have the active GM show proof of "activity" by showing me the message(s) he sent to try and set up games.

agreed, but the mobile app has been a pretty disappointment thus far.
I've really only used it to see who was on my schedule, haven't used it for anything else really.

I also think i'll make it a rule that if you get a disconnect with your opponent both of you have to resume the game right where it left off. If that means pulling your goalies to make it 5-5 in OT then thats what that means.

Hey Chess,

So sorry about that, we can play a game where we pull goalies to get it back to 2-2 and let the clock run into overtime. Good thing (for you) is Zajac likely won't be injured again. We can resume game 2 today anytime before 7pm (Eastern), I'm also free all day and night Tuesday

Got back to you this morning via PM because I did not notice this thread, but yes my internet completely crapped out last night, was up until 3 trying to get back on to no avail.

Also, just for acccuracies sake, the first game was 5-2 and the league's leading point and goal scorer after 1 playoff game is Scott Gomez with a pair of goals!! hah

oops I thought it was 5-3, my bad.

yea man don't worry about it. I figured after about a half hour that it was just a big internet problem. Its all good.

I'll be on around 3 or 4PM eastern until 7PM Eastern. We could just play first goal wins, and the other team if scored on has to just sit there and let the time run out. Or we could wait it out until overtime, whatever you like.
