If you have to "rank" centers, Buffalo's probably look like:

1A.) Ennis (played on a line with a ton of chemistry)
1B.) Hogdson (likely to open with Vanek and Pominville, so maybe CoHo is the #1 with Ennis the #2?)

3.) Ott????????

4.) No friggin idea...........
Hecht is also a UFA and therefore not even under contract to the Sabres.

Plekanec has cooled down offensively over the last couple of seasons. He's had a couple of solid seasons where he put up 69 and 70 points respectively, and also had a big down year after his 70 point season scoring just 39 points in 80 games.

Over the last two seasons Plekanec has put up 52 and 57 points, while Grabovski has put up 51 and 58 points. Exactly the same amount of points.

Plekanec is better defensively and I would admit is a great penalty killer from what I've seen. However, I would argue that over the past couple of seasons Grabovski has been more dangerous offensively. I think, based on the last two seasons, Grabovski is more skilled and talented offensively.

I still put him behind Plekanec, but I certainly think the gap has closed.

Hecht? Really? Did you also see he only played like 30 games last year?

It's Cody Hodgson.

Krejci's the easy vote for two reasons, he's the best of the five players and the next best two (Plekanec and Grabovski) are the best centres on their team whereas Krejci actually isn't.

And yes Turris and Hodgson should have been included but neither would have deserved any votes so posters can stop worrying about it.

1. Krejci/Bergeron (whichever)
2. Turris/Desharnais (Pleks is the best in MTL)
3. Hodgson/Ennis (whoever BUF goes with)
4. Connolly/Bozak (Grabs is best in TOR)

I agree - despite ice time I think a team's second best center is their "2nd line center". Or at least that's one interpretation of it. Players such as Desharnais and Bozak play with gifted wings and form nice #1 lines for their respective teams, but Plekanec and Grabovski are both clearly superior centers.

On that premise, the candidates would be Desharnais for us and Bozak for Toronto.

Boston easily takes it with Krejci.

Pleks is excellent defensively, works super hard all over the ice and is perhaps not as naturally gifted offensively as Grabovski. Grabovski is also the Leafs hardest working player so I won't go out and say something baseless like he can't play defense (his corsi #s are consistently ludicrous).

So I guess even as a Montreal fan I agree with your statement, BUT Grabovski would have to at least pass the 60 point mark to truly make this a no-contest.

To be honest, i would probably go with Grabovski instead of Plekanec at this point.

Krejci is the best out of those 3, although not by a mile.

Plekanec always out plays Krejci for some reason, I think he is the best all around from that group

Ummmmm...Krejci is Boston's first line center, Bergeron plays the second line with Seguin and Marchand.

Bergeron, by a good margin too.

Turris should be our option, but people already know that.

It's true I wouldn't pick him in this poll, but he is certainly being a bit underrated in this thread.

Krejci is also a penalty killer in Claude Julien's system.

He's not a slouch defensively.

But he's right. Who cares if it's Turris or Smith or whoever. IMO Krejci is the clear answer here. Plekanec behind him, Grabovski behind Plekanec. Then a pretty big gap.
All what i was implying is why is he so mad about turris? Then see he's a yotes fan. It all makes sense. He's sour on him because turris left his team like sens fans are sour on heatley for leaving their team.
