primeau is expensive for a 3rd line center, but I think he'll be one of the best 3rd liners in the league. A very good lineup, but I think we need to move a player or two.
1 of Therien/Rags/Weinrich and 1 of Recchi/Brashear/Fedoruk is a nice package. We still have 8 guys on defense, if we move 1 of those guys and still have 13 NHL forwards.
A 2nd, 3rd and 5th for 2 of the above? Call Pittsburg and offer them 2 of the above, 3.5 million in cash for a salary dump player and a couple of prospects or picks. Atlanta/Nashville could use some better veterans, especially on the blueline. Minnesota could use Recchi or brashear badly. Throw in some cash Clarkie and get it done. Offer Edmonton Recchi and Therien and 3.5 million for Comrie. It would almost guarantee EDM the playoff cash money this year. San Jose is rebuilding but could use more talented veterans than the ones they have, give them Brash and Therien and 2 million for say Marcel Goc and a couple of picks or something.
I know very hypothetical and looking through Flyer glasses. But our youth needs to play and we have depth to move. If Seidenberg, Somik, and Chouinard aren't going to get ice time, will they ever get any better? I know that next year when we lose a couple of the vets they'll get more of a chance, but having them wait will not make them any better, will it?

The Pens have no desire for any of those players. Sure they might be better than the players penciled in those roster spots this minute, but in two years? Chances are neither of those players would be in Pittsburgh. I'd much rather have Orpik playing than Chris Therien.

Actually all those players will still be RFA in two years, therefore will have very little leverage. But I wouldn't expect you to understand that.

Why would Edmonton want an over the hill winger 1 or 2 years away from retirement with injury problems like Recchi and an overrated d-man like Therien for young and talented Comrie (as much of a little puke that he is…)?? Taking that much back in salary, Edmonton would rather trade Comrie for a draft pick or a prospect.

The Primeau line is supposed to be a checking line. If Hitchcock keeps this Chouinard-Recchi-Somik thing and Leclair does go down with injury, than I see the left side getting bumped up a line or Kapanen taking Leclair's spot and Fedoruk or Lapointe playing with Primeau and Brashear.
Hitch said to the Inquirer that Fedoruk and Lapointe had a "secure job"...It seems that Kenny want to have 23 players available for each match (14 forward, 7 D-men and 2 goalies)
Recchi isn't going to be traded and if you have the slightest thought that Recchi will be traded or has the possibility of being traded you don't understand this team or how it works. A team player like Mark Recchi who takes pay and cuts and other things that benefit this team isn't going to be traded. He will play any offensive position on any line.
John LeClair may not start the season (hopefully) due to his current status but this is just my specualtion so don't take it as a fact. If he does I believe he will be injured sometime in the next few monthes and hopefully by then Hitchcock will be willing to give Chouinard a chance up on the top line.
Here is how I see the lines as the season starts...
this leaves out Fedoruk and Lapointe so maybe Hitchcock will put LeClair on IR (again just my specualtion) until he feels he is ready to play. In this case I think Kapanen will be moved up to the 1st line (I don't care that Hitch says the line is "set in stone") and Lapointe will be Primeau's LWer.
I guess if LeClair goes down as a scratch later in the season as I expect Chouinard might be given a chance depending on how well he is doing up until that point. I could even see Somik play LW on the top line if he is shining.
Out of any of these players mentioned, Brashear is the guy I want gone the most. He's absolutely terrible, and even worse if you've seen him live. I've seen several reports that Recchi could be centring a line this season (at least to start) which is strange since we already have 4 cement-solid centres on the roster (JR, Zeus, Preems, Lappy) and guys like Gags that can play both wing and pivot.
