Martin Erat (Nashville)

I know Erat is one of the Predators best forwards but I was wondering what you think it would take to get him out of Nashville. I think hes an underrated forward and being a Pens fan would love to see him on Crosby's wing. I remember reading from multiple places that Nashville and Pittsburgh had been talking because Poile was interested in Martin.

Would they take something like..

1. Top 4 D man
2 High end forward prospect
3. 1st or 2nd rounder?

IMO he is one of the best skaters in league.Actually he is not an elite goal scorer, but he has shown some flashes of leaderhip. Fisher and Kostycin are not a best possible forwards to play with. I can imagine to see him playing for Pens or Nucks.

Pens could spend Niskanen with some prospect or Kunitz with pick or prospect to get him.

He`s worth too much to us as one of our best as one of our pseudo first liner players for us to move him.

I had a feeling this was going to be the majority of the responses from Preds fans. I just think his speed and play making would be perfect for Sids wing and he has a pretty favorable cap hit as well.

he has a NTC

he's getting to the cheap portion of his contract.

we dont need defense or prospects, we need Erat.

so you wont be seeing him traded.

Highly doubtful you see him traded. Consistent 50+ point scorers on the Preds are few and far between. Great guy as well. Just bought a team-issued Preds authentic blank from a dealer in Boston and will definitely be going for Erat customization; love him.

Saw Erat at a rookie prospects camp when I was younger and knew nothing about him or much about prospects in general. He was 1 of the few guys who really stood out of ALL the teams and you could tell he'd be a great player. Dude is a top line winger on any team and easily top 10 most underrated player in the league.

he's our best forward, is signed cheaply for a few more years, and is part of the leadership core of the team.

in other words, he's not available.

There is absolutely NO way this happens. Erat is the best all around forward in Nashville. Trading him would create a hole, and this doesn't come close to filling it. We don't need Martin anyway.

Nope.

Erat cannot be pried out of Nashville for anything that anyone would consider to be fair value. He is entirely too important to the Preds, his salary is reducing over the next few years (which fits great with Weber's front loaded deal) and he has a NMC. Unless someone offers some stupid overpayment AND Erat is cool with the trade he will retire a Predator.

I love when people call the person they want underrated, but then see the price it would take to get him out of Nashville, he is now over-rated. Love these threads.

IMO value would be Tangradi+1st but still not enough

I don't think anyone has called him overrated yet, but I guess it's still early

Any team could easily put together a package of same value for Erat and in a vacuum most deals offered would be acceptable.

But Erat is the best forward in Nashville, not one of the best as some call him, he is the best. And this team is starved for offensive talent. So any deal that would get him out of Nashville would have to start with a similarly skilled forward in return, which makes trading for Erat pointless.

Only way he's gone is if it's the final year of his deal, the Preds are out of contention at the deadline and Erat lets Poile know he won't return and requests a trade to a contender.

He is the Predators best forward. As sad as that is, it's the truth. There is literally 0 chance he goes for a package of lesser pieces. If (very doubtful) Erat is traded, it will be Erat+ for an upgrade. No reason to make our team worse by accepting a worse player and some futures.

I know, but it's the type of thread with a smaller-market/fanbase, and then the larger fanbase says no way that's to high why are you overrating him.... It has shown to be inevitable on hf with the circumstances.

Of course you would, it's easy for fans of the team that wants one of your best players to say yes.
