Tampa Bay Lightning GM Steven Yzerman made a number of shrewd moves with the team's NHL roster over his first two seasons as general manager, his best work perhaps has come through building the team's prospect depth. When he took over in May of 2010, the Lightning's top prospect was
Carter Ashton (now with
Toronto), and there was little depth in the system. Since then, with his willingness to select
Russian-born players in particular, Yzerman has stocked the Lightning's cupboard with a bevy of high-potential prospects including
Slater Koekkoek,
Vladislav Namestnikov, and
Andrey Vasilevskiy.
