Top 10

In reverence to one of one of my favorite movies, High Fidelity, and to add some much needed levity to this summer's HF drama, I'd like to know what my fellow HFer's consider their top 10 favorite desert island music albums of all time.

This is all very objective, so please no, "that sucks"..."only morons like that type of music". I'd just like to know what you all consider good music. These are the discs you would take if you were on an island and couldn't get off (no pun intended) or was it

Here are mine, in no particular order:

1. Sunny Day Real Estate - How it Feels to be Something On
2. Pink Floyd - Animals
3. Van Morrison - Veedon Fleece
4. The Beatles - The White Album
5. Guided By Voices - Under the Bushes, Under the Stars
6. The Clash - Super Black Market Clash
7. Jane's Addiction - Ritual de lo Habitual
8. The Olivia Tremor Control - Dusk at Cubist Castle
9. David Bowie - Ziggy Stardust...
10. Fugazi - The Argument

Have at it.

If it can be bought at a single unit then it counts!

But if I can't do HTWWW then I'd do lz 4 as well probably. That's tough though, hard to pick with my favorite band

KoB, you listen to some good music for a young guy. It was either NMH or OTC...I figured NMH may be too dark for an island. Love it though. One of the craziest, surreal and wonderful albums ever made.

I met Jeff Mangum once. He was guest DJing at a station in Jersey City and my buddy introduced me to him. Odd, but a nice guy.

Grizzly Bear is great too. Saw them in concert once.

1. Muse - Origin of Symmetry
2. Radiohead - Hail to the Thief
3. John Frusciante - Shadows Collide With People
4. Muse - Absolution
5. John Frusciante - The Empyrean
6. 4LYN - Take it as a Compliment
7. White Lies - To Lose My Life
8. Radiohead - OK Computer
9. Metric - Old World Underground, Where Are You Now?
10. Uhm... I think this bands name is inappropriate for this board... - Just Quit Trying

Creating this list, I've ran into the problem, that I'd prefer picking single songs from so many albums. I wish I could add a mix of Radioheads OK Computer, Amnesiac, King of Limbs, In Rainbows and Kid A or Muse's Showbiz and Black Holes and Revelations.

Ah, lists and music, two things I like

Limiting myself to one album per artist it would be something like this:

1. Black Sabbath - Paranoid
2. Aerosmith - Rocks
3. Judas Priest - Sad Winds of Destiny
4. Iron Maiden - Seventh Son of a Seventh Son
5. Metallica - Master of Puppets
6. Dio - Holy Diver
7. Queensryche - Operation: Mindcrime
8. In Flames - Whoracle
9. At the Gates - Slaughter of the Souls
10. Opeth - Blackwater Park

Argh, this is too hard. Really wanted to add some Scorpions, David Bowie, The Clash, Megadeth...

I like the Moody Blues. I think they get a lot of crap because of the poetry pieces they like to include in their albums but most of their songs that I've heard are very, very good.

I think I have the most in common with plemur, Open Ice, Hooper, and TrapJesus.

This is a borderline impossible question. I'm including complilation albums, so you'll all just need to deal with that. In no order...

1. Pearl Jam -- Ten
2. Alice in Chains -- MTV Unplugged
3. Dropkick Murphys -- Live on St. Patrick's Day
4. Reel Big FIsh -- Turn the Radio Off
5. Zac Brown Band -- Foundation
6. Metallica -- S&M
7. U2 -- The Joshua Tree
8. Boston -- Boston
9. Led Zeppelin -- Remasters
10. Sublime -- Sublime

Honorable mention to Weezer's Blue Album and GNR's Use Your Illusion I

Two of my favorite Moody Blues songs aren't even on that album - "Question" and "I'm just a singer." Both songs I'll crank up to top volume and sing/bellow along with.
