St. Louis signs Sergei Andronov (Has actually signed an AHL deal with Peoria)

http://www.cska-hockey.ru/news/Andro...itsya_za_okean

The link is in Russian, but is from The CSKA website, stating Andronov is trying his hand in North America.

Andronov, the Blues 3rd round pick in the 2009 entry draft will likely start the year in Peoria. He has a good skill set and has a nice set of wheels in him as well. Could be a potential call up option and someone to play with Grachev in Peoria.

I honestly know nothing about him but it's nice to see a player come over seas, willing to play in the AHL.

I remeber drafting him that's about it. We'll see how he does in the AHL. Kind of surprised he decided to come over for the AHL.

Andronov has a lot of skill, but never had a lot of offensive chances in the KHL. He will likely get top six minutes this by the end of the season in Peoria.

Can we call him "The Android" if he ever becomes a big thing?

Hmm, didn't think he was ever coming over.

I thought he looked pretty good before he was drafted, hasn't done much since.

I wouldn't call this a "confirmed signing" just yet. It's a strange situation. The Peoria Rivermen (Blues' AHL affiliate beat writer) stated tonight that the Blues haven't heard from Andronov or his agent. Andy Strickland (hockeybuzz, truehockey) also said that the Blues haven't heard from him.

Can any Russian posters elaborate on any news out of Russia regarding Andronov leaving? Would Andronov really leave the KHL for North America without talking to the Blues first?

The story is on CSKA's website, so I don't doubt that he intends on coming over, but it's odd that the Blues allegedly haven't heard from his camp yet.

Dave Eminian is a professional; Andy Strickland is a glorified blogger who thinks he's an "insider."

If Eminian hasn't heard anything from the Blues, that's one thing (although it's probably not that unusual that the beat writer for the minor-league affiliate isn't immediately notified about all player signings).

What Strickland has to say about the situation is, in my opinion, utterly meaningless. Just like everything else that drips out of Strickland's pie hole...

He would have to speak to the Blues in order to get his rights traded to another NHL team if he wasn't signing with the Blues. The Blues, and all NHL teams, hold the rights to Russian players in perpetuity because there is no transfer agreement between the NHL and the Russian Ice Hockey Federation.

Also, there's this... from a Russian poster:

For a follow-up on this, Andronov has NOT signed with the Blues. He has, on the other hand, signed an AHL deal with St. Louis' affiliate in Peoria.

Bah, I just now saw your response (more than a month later). Of course Strickland is a blogger, but you know, he does actually have some insight into the Blues that others don't.

I think you misinterpreted what I was tying to say about Andronov leaving. I was asking whether he would actually tell his KHL team that he was leaving for North America without actually talking to the Blues first. Of course he would need to actually talk to the Blues and sign a contract - that's just silly. (Yes, I'm also aware that there is no binding transfer agreement and that we hold Russian players' rights in perpetuity.
