I would actually drop 2 players out of the boards list and put Philip Samuelsson in the top 20. His feet have to catch up with the rest of his game but we've seen Scuds and Engo do that. I like his smarts and his compete level. IMO a 5 or 6 defenseman is a reachable goal for him and I think he's good enough to get there.

Add Paul Thompson.

I don't see why. Tyler Kennedy is a very effective player for us and is the same size as Arcibald. Archie brings the same speed, similar (if not better) shooting ability, better natural/inherent offensive ability & instincts, and a similar work ethic and tenacity. And he seemed to be getting a lot of really positive reviews from development camp, as well. There's no reason not to think that this is not a similar & realistic projection for him.

Despite what people think, that does not make him our 21st best (or lower prospect). In fact it's quite clear that Archibald is probably our most underrated prospect right now.

I'll take Archibalds speed to Sundqvist size any day. Nothing I've seen from Sundqvist suggest he is going to be a NHL player anytime soon.

I have never seen any of these people do anything, ever. I have never read anything official about any of them that weren't drafted this year. I am entirely basing my opinion on what others in these threads have said.

that said, Thunder bay for life

Exactly, that's like Kindergarten kids throwing darts at a board with stocks fairing better than any wallstreet expert, go ahead, you'll do good.

You guys have to put an arguably NHL-ready goalie (for backup minutes) in the top 20. Not doing so is kind of crazy. ALthough I guess you can argue he's not a prospect.

I would also argue that Zatkoff's not as NHL-ready as some think. His last playoffs lasted not even 2 games (both losses) with a 4.34 GAA and a .865 save%. He has won 1 playoff game in his 3 years in the AHL, and played 0 minutes in the NHL so far. Compare that to what Thiessen has done in his career. Zatkoff is bigger but not necessarily better.

I just like the fact that there is a bit of depth to the list. Even the guys at this level still have NHL potential to some degree, which is a contrast to previous years. The majority will likely pan to nothing but there is hope at least with some of these guys.

KV again. The guy has everything but health. I think he can become a decent third liner or even a 2nd/3rd line tweener if he can translate his skill to the NHL.

Keven needs to work his way back into my good graces before he gets my vote. I haven't given up on him, but I went with Ruopp because I liked what I saw of him in during the open practice fans were allowed to attend this summer and I want to believe Shero can get something of value even in an obvious salary dump.

Thiessen finished 2nd to last in the entire AHL in sv% last season. His teammate, Scott Munroe, finished 20 points higher. In the few NHL games he played, he looked small, uncomfortable, and terrible. He'll be backing up Zatkoff next season anyway so hopefully we don't have to see him in the NHL ever again.

He had a down year in the regular season, followed by some pretty good playoffs by all accounts. The season before he was AHL goalie of the year and a 1st team all-star. What has Zatkoff proven so far that makes him NHL-ready? That he's 4 inches taller?
