He certainly has that Brett Hull ability to find himself open. It's just that with Toews, Kane, and Hossa they're dominant offensively and they create a myriad of chances.

Sharp is the poacher to borrow a term from Soccer. He'll be quiet the whole game, and five minutes later he's got two goals.

If you gave Sharp a slight better backhand with Kanes passing ability you would have Giroux

Sharp is not in the same stratosphere as Giroux in terms of stickhandling.

The best goal scorer on the team, bar none. He's just one of those guys with acute offensive awareness, meaning he knows where to be in order to score and he knows when to shoot.

He's good enough that if Toews wasn't in the picture, he would be our captain.

One word describes him:

SNIPE.

Top 3 LW and if he was 7 years younger he'd have the upside of Giroux.

He has the best defensive ability of any 30 goal scorer this year except for maybe Pavelski.

Sharpie is a solid second line forward...he doesn't bring much when it comes to defense or play making, but that shot is amazing....this is why he tends to disappear during stretches throughout the season. All in all though a great guy to have in the locker room.

Sharp was a +28 last year. You've only had four posts until this moment and already you're a -4. Go away, troll.

Sharp has a good D for a Winger... and he is more than a 2nd Line player.

I don't like +/-. Sharp is on the 2nd most of the time primarily for offensive situations and not out against top lines or top defensive pairs as often as others. He was great defensively in 2011 but I thought he was closer to average last year despite the +/-.

Sharp is a top line player and has been for a few seasons. I think defensively he had too much of a "pass" from criticism last year about his play away from the puck. I think he can play like he did in 2011 again, I think some of the mistakes we saw were flukish or may have been somebody else's mistakes anyway.

Sharp is a solid player and there is no reason to consider upgrading him. He's been used in a number of roles and has excelled at some point with all of them. There is no reason to even consider trading him unless it's for a legitimate top line center, the Hawks have a capable and reliable two-way right handed shooter to fill in for him at the wing, and they have appropriate leadership developed or identified to fill in for him.

My only real concern for Sharp has to do with injuries. I'm worried about those joints, but I don't think he's close to a decline when he's healthy. He's on a good contract in my opinion as well.

David Vyborny was a solid second line forward. A guy that plays great defense and still scores 70+ is a hell of a lot more than a "solid second line forward".

I disagree completely with this. He played some of his best hockey toward the end of last season on a line with Kruger and Stalberg. He wasn't playing with Toews, Kane, or Hoss at that time, and certainly didn't need them to put up his usual numbers. I think all four of these guys can carry a line--pretty amazing to think about actually.

As far as the case of Sharp v Kane, Kane is the better all-around offensive talent in my opinion. But I don't think Sharp is as far behind as some might think--he just plays a very different game. It makes me think of comparing Sergei Federov and Brendan Shanahan. Although the more Sharp-like offensive player in that debate generally wins, the debate is similar in terms of comparing different types of players.

Hmm, sure would be a bonus if Kaner could turn into the defensive star that Federov was.

tbh... I would like to see him on a line with Bolland and Shaw

IF Saad turns out to be a Top6 player and Stalberg repeats his season.
