Just great. The fans have to rely on Bettman and Colin Mochrie Fehr to get something done.

Man, this is awful.

I would include my status I wrote on Facebook about the lockout but the censored swearing wouldn't be as funny. Plus the majority of you know more about the fiscal issues pertaining to the CBA that I'd come off as pretentious.

I really hope this gets resolved quickly but it doesn't look good.

Seriously, this is truly like having the cast of South Park trying to negotiate in a room with Beavis and Butthead. If anyone has bunkers and can goods left from the Y2K scare, you might want to use them this winter. Gonna be a LONG one.

Put Fehr and Bettman in a cage and leave them alone overnight. Which ever one is alive in the morning gets what they ask for.

They'd both still be alive in the morning.....sitting in their own little corners with their arms folded while pouting. To kill each other would actually take effort, strategy, and the will to get something done. It'd be addressing the problem. Those boys are better at covering their eyes and pretending it's not there.

Some players are taking to twitter. Sure aren't making themselves look good. There were two sides responsible for this mess just like there were during the past lockouts. Maybe he should check Fehr's record too.

to his defense thos, Fehr has left MLB with 17 years of no work stoppage (garry has 3 lockouts in that time ) and what are players to do take a ****** deal just to appease the fans, NHL could have said, we'll play under old CBA pending players sign a deal saying they won't strike but owners are not willing to play under their own deal.

also to me the biggest sham is how only a few owners are part of the negotiating group and it happens to be the ones who are raking in money, why not let all 30 owners sit at the table, its their league too. (my guess is because if all 30 owners were there we would be negotiating off the players proposal that helps teams via revenue sharing form the rich boys)

Indeed. From now on, I'll be officially disgusted with every attempt from either side to look better than another. At the moment they all are awful, awful, awful people to me. Who are awfully wrong. And I hoped they'd be sane enough to stay quiet. All of them. And not piss me off even more. But apparently that's not the case.

I tried to stay positive, let's see what happens, they may solve it etc... But now it's personal. NHL and NHLPA took my NHL away. I was paying for it. And was going to pay for it this season. Where's the product?? NHL and NHLPA, YOU FAIL.

Bettman's first work stoppage was a combination of the players trying to take advantage of the rookie commissioner, and a genuine need for dramatic change. His second work stoppage was because the owners caved during the first stoppage, and didn't manage to get those absolutely necessary changes the first go around. We'll see whether any actual games are cancelled, as Fel keeps alluding to, there's another full month before we actually see meaningful effects (preseason isn't really meaningful in that regard).

As for the owners at the negotiating table, why would that make any positive difference? Too many cooks spoil the pot. Bettman and Daly are held accountable by the entire board of governors, which means to each individual team. They were put into their positions because they could be a unified front for the owners. The fewer owners directly involved, the better. The same can mostly be said of the players. The fewer of them directly involved, the better this situation is for all of us. Let's face it, owners aren't collective bargainers. The players certainly have no business being directly involved. The proxies who have been hired have been hired because neither of those sides have any competence whatsoever in that regard. This isn't a stupid PR battle. No one should care who "looks better" and "what appearances should be made for the sake of theatre." Let the people whose job is to negotiate do the negotiating.

all i'm saying is all 30 owners should hear the proposal, i highly doubt that all 30 owners want a lockout, i'm going to say this on a hunch and that is you would be hard pressed to find 10 of them who are voting for a lockout.

this number being owners not answering for the media or pr, but their true feeling. i don't by the Jeremy Jacobs vote that he called for after the first vote where they are all for it.

in any case the people who lose are the fans,

I copied this song to disk during the 2004 lockout and blasted it on the speakers. Sad and pathetic that it can be used again.

The one good thing the lockout has done is remind me that this is NOT my team and I don't need to support them financially. It's just a group of people that I pay for the privilege to watch. That Granlund jersey in green I was so looking forward to buying this year was not bought immediately and I'm so glad it wasn't. Even if they do get hockey going again this season I'm still not buying.

I pay for cable to watch hockey; if i can't watch hockey then I'll have to pay for the cable bill by not spending on jerseys.

I think there's only one person to blame in all of this that everyone here has over-looked...

its funny how your avatar keeps laughing at whatever picture you post!

are you saying LaPanta appears to be only a common ******, yet is secretly smart and diabolical enough to orchestrate the whole thing? or is it that fan response to LPanta coming in was so bad they decided to cancel a year of the NHL and ride out his contract with no games called?
