Throw him on Lando & O'Reillys line and i think that's the best chance he has for a bounceback year. Don't forget that he was playing quite well until the captaincy and now has had an offseason to better prepare himself for leading this team.
Yeah, he will bounce back but not in the way people are going to be expecting or necessarily happy with. Now that he is over the hill, his role has changed - he is no longer on the team to be the sniper of old. As long as he manages to keep up with the young guys and isn't a defensive liability, I'll be happy seeing the mentor out there for 10-15 minutes a night.
I think he'll probably start the season with Duchene and Parenteau and with PA alone, that should allow him to snipe a bit more than he did last year.
Now before everyone freaks out and says "OMGZZZ that line is not going to be good enough defensively", I truly believe that Sacco won't be breaking up the Stastny or the RoR line to start the season. Therefore as a 3rd line or 1C if you prefer, in theory they should be playing against the bottom pairing on the other side and that's where the challenge will be for other teams.
So when matching up against a line of Kotsopolous-Blair Jones-Comeau, we shouldn't be too worried about getting scored on and instead push them to try and defend us. (I know what you're thinking...BLAIR JONES!!!!)
Obviously, we're going to need a better commitment from Duchene to play a more involved 2-way game than we saw last year but I think we ARE going to see that anyways.
I think the Duke bounces back with another 20 goal season and between 45-55 points.
