More Impressive year?

More impressive season?

Stamkos- 60/37/97 ...as a forward...

Karlsson- 19/59/78 ...as a defenseman...

Both in their 21-year old seasons.

Sorry if this had already been done, just wanted to see the opinions.

Karlsson. Stamkos scored 45 two seasons ago.

Now THIS is what I call a good poll.

I'm going to go with Stamkos, but this was a hard ass decision to make. 60 goals is tough to beat.

Stamkos pretty easily. Scoring 60 goals, in this day and age is a historic feat. Prior to Stamkos, the last people to do it were Ovechkin in 08, and then Jagr/Lemieux in 1996.

In the same time, a defenseman has put up 70+ points 10 different times.

Voted Stamkos. 60 goals is such an impressive feat. How many guys have done that in the past 15 to 20 years? While Karlsson's season was indeed impressive, the kind of points he put up from the blueline isn't quite as ... unique as that of a 60 goal forward.

I mean the 50 goal part. Do you mean this past year when he scored 60, or the year before when he scored 45?

Great poll. I can't vote, but Stamkos. It's more incredible when you take in the fact that he scored 48 ES goals, and the second place scorer had 50 goals all together.

Tough, but I gotta go with Stamkos... You won't see 60 goals often anymore.

You also won't see ~PPG defensemen anymore period, but I feel 60 goals is just a bigger achievement. Not by much, though.

Stamkos. 60 goals in the current-day NHL is extremely impressive.

He scored 2 less even strength goals (48) than the next highest goal scorer scored in total (50) just to put that into perspective.

Karlsson was obviously very impressive too. But 60 goals is hard to top.

While Stamkos' year is quite impressive, I can't overlook Karlsson's Norris and the way he completely outscored any other defenseman this year.

Stamkos easily. 48 of them were even strength. That's mind-boggling to be able to score enough goals 5 on 5 to be 2nd in the league total.

Also, I love the argument that Stamkos scoring 50 previously somehow makes scoring 60 less impressive. That's just....bizarre.

Stamkos. Not so much the 60 goals, but the 48 ES goals.

Voted Karlsson. It's just so impressive for a dman to do that at his age. Maybe if it weren't for Crosby and Ovy coming into the league and doing what they've done at such a young age I would vote Stamkos. I don't know, close poll and you can't go wrong either way. Stamkos definitely buries his chances in the games I've seen but doesn't really control the ice the way several other young players that I've watched do (Giroux, Tavares, Doughty, Karlsson etc.)

Karlsson had a great season, but I can't bring myself to vote against 60 goals from Stamkos.

Easily Stamkos. 60 goals, 48 of them even strength, in a very low scoring year. Unreal.

Poll is a lot closer than the comments.

But yeah, 60 goals pretty easily for me. If EK had put up those numbers with more goals, maybe 25 or so, it would have been a lot more impressive and a lot closer.
