But we are replacing our best defenseman, player, game controller, TOI leader with either Weircoch/Boro or someone from Bingo.

Could get ugly

I meant as in statistical wise. Silfverberg gives us that top-line future dimension that was once Alfredsson. Lindholm can be that and much more. More depth more star-power.

I'm trying to fit David Dzurzynski in there somewhere, don't worry.

We were struggling to produce any offense WITH Karlsson and that's when he was the focal point of almost every chance.

With that being said, it's not the lack of goals that's gonna hurt us it's gonna be Karlsson's possession game and defensive game. He used to almost always have the puck on his stick when he was playing D that it made life easier for Anderson to face perimeter shots from the team's best players. Top forwards couldn't get near the net where Karlsson would pick-pocket them always.

With Karlsson gone, this defense is the joke of the league.

I've read in a couple of places now people mentioning bringing him up. It's slowly reaching critical mass.

Just thought I'd get that started lol ... Anderson is good enough to prevent a lottery pick IMO ... Tough to replace, but not bottom 5 bad.

no , no goalie is. Without Karlsson and spezza this is the worst team in the league.

Yeah, time to showcase Bishop a bit.

We should have a top 10 pick this year without EK and Spez. If we make the playoffs Andy will probably win the Hart and the Vezina lol.

If we end up with Lindholm or Monahan I would be so happy.

Now's the time to restructure the team.

Trade Michalek + for Ryan.

Trade Stone+ for RO'R

Draft one of MacKinnon, Jones, Barkov, Drouin, Lindholm or Monohan.

Our core going forward:

Karlsson
Spezza
Turris
Ryan
O'Reilly
Cowen
Silfverberg
Zibanejad
Methot
Ceci
Weircioch
Lehner

If we're trading Michalek I would hope it would be for another top 4 defenceman to be honest. The Coyotes could use the offensive touch and they have a ton of defencemen coming through.

Michalek + for Yandle
Zibanejad/Silfverberg + for O'Reilly
Lehner + for a top 6/3 winger

If any of that happens we're not a lottery team.

If for some reason the Sens ended up with the first overall pick, I think I would try to trade down to 3-4 and add another first+ or similar valued assets. At 3-4 almost guaranteed to get Drouin or Barkov.

Drouin is an incredible talent, and think he just might be a better pick than MacKinnon. He is a lot like Datsyuk in the way he can control the puck and his skill level. Never seen anyone with his puck skills.

MacKinnon is an incredible athlete that gets to top speed better than anyone and is very hard to knock off the puck, but he doesn't improve his linemates as much as Drouin. I would almost be tempted to take Drouin with the first pick if I had too.

Also remember this year, every non-playoff team has a chance at first overall. A true draft lottery, so finishing last guarantees you nothing.

Asterix, my viewing of Seth Jones has been limited.

This.

Already 1/4 of the season is gone (and this is a short one) and we have 6-7 points more than bottom-5 teams...

I know 99% of this board think the Sens are a 2-men team, but reality is we still have quality players in Turris , Michalek, Alfredsson, Gonchar; a few rookies with good potential like Zibanejad, Silfverberg, Da Costa and Wiercioch; and great role players like Methot, Phillips, Neil, Smith, Condra, O'Brien... Also, who knows if Regin and Latendresse can finally come back healthy. Finally, Anderson-Bishop is a great duo who can steal games

I'd say the chances of making the playoffs without our 2 best players are very low but we are not garanteed a top-5 pick. They will fight for their lives and it's a big opportunity for new players to step up... They will need a few games to do so though

Who knows...we could battle back, maybe just barely miss the playoffs and the league will feel bad and let us win (rig) the lottery ala Pittsburgh with Crosby.

I would absolutely love to draft Seth Jones!!!!!!!!! I think he's a legitimate superstar and it would allow us to have one of the, if not the, best defense in the league.

Karlsson-Cowen
Ceci-Jones
Methot-WHO THE HELL CARES DO YOU SEE THE TOP 4

But what we need is a young game breaker up front to take over for Spezz. So a 1C would be my priority if available.

This may.... mayyy end up being amazing for us if we get a top 5 pick from this years draft.

Lindholm/Monahan/Drouin would do wonders for this team moving forward and Alfredsson retiring next year.

Spezza
Turris
Zibanejad
Lindholm
Silfverberg
Michalek

Could easily be one of the best top 6's in the league in year or two.

Hopefully we can trade Gonchar, Lattendresse, Regin, Lundin and possibly Michalek and Alfie (if he wants to get traded) for another first round pick or two.

Then we could draft one of:
Mackinnon
Jones
Drouin
Nurse
Shinkaruk

And one, or two of:
Domi
Lazar
Rychel
Erne
Hartman

I think even without Karlsson and Spezza we aren't going to be bottom 5 in the league. Anderson will still give us solid goaltending, and MacLean's system will get the most out of the players we have left. I could see us sneaking out many 2-1, 3-2 victories against opponents that think they have the game in the bag before it even starts.

We're probably looking at Shinkaruk/Pulock/Erne/Nurse, not Jones/MacKinnon/Drouin.

Hypothetically, if we had the first Overall who do you think the Sens would draft? We have Center Depth with Turris/Spezza do you really think the Murray's would take Jones over Nate?

I need more context then that. Who do you think we would need more? I personally like Drouin and be over the moon if we could draft him. A legit winger with creativity to match Spezz.

drouin would be perfect...we need a true top line foward. And a PP of Spezz...Drouin...Karlsson would be..dope.
