Spezza is almost 30, so Mackinnon would be perfect (if he's bpa of course).

Even if we get 6th overall, I'll cry in excitement.

To get one of Drouin/Jones/Mackinnon/Barkov/Lindholm/Monahan () would be unreal for this team...

Mackinnon would be a dream on a line with Spezza. I could see 19 returning to 100 point form with a linemate like Nate.

Jones would solidify the D and immediately replace Gonchar, be our #2 for years.

Drouin could be our #1 center in 3-4 years when Spezza might take a step back.

I really want one of these players.

I'm also a big Monohan guy. He's going to be a stud.

Drouin plays the wing.

He played centre until he played in the Q. He could easily transition back.

He's more suited for center ice. If he's not playing in the NHL next year, he'll move to center with Mackinnon in the show.

Mackinnon is more suited as winger in the NHL. Guy could be the generations best powerforward. A REAL powerforward, none of this Ovechkin or Nash nonsense.

I'm partial to Drouin. He looks like a special player.

I also wouldn't mind any of Nate, Lindholm or Monahan.

We have to find a way to get both Mackinnon and Drouin http://hfboards.hockeysfuture.com/sh....php?t=1350117

Anyone in the top 5 has the potential to be a pretty special player.

Remember Landeskog? This whole board clamored together to jinx us. Let's not have that happen again. I don't want to draft 7th.

Nothing except his numbers look underwhelming besides an amazing world hockey tournament.

There are certain players I think that we should target at different places in the draft.

Drouin, Monahan and Lindholm would be my top 10 picks.

Shinkaruk, Ristolainen and Pulock in the 10 - 20 range.

Wennberg, Compher and Lazar in the 20 - 30 range (LOL).

Not to rain on anyone's parade or be a Debbie Downer, but as much as I would love to have one of these prospects, as long as we have Andy in net playing as well as he is, we are (sadly) probably destined to just miss the playoffs, especially when you consider the decent start we've had up until EK's injury.

I hope the Sens make the playoffs & anything is possible. This organization has not had any problems at the draft since Murray replaced sweater GM regardless of where they draft. While there are some good choices in the top ten I trust our scouts to find some gems wherever they draft. I want my team to succeed & regardless of the loss of Karlsson & Spezza they can still make the playoffs. Never say never.

BTW only a very few rare players play the yr they are drafted, more than likely anyone we draft could take two to three or longer yrs before we see them in Ottawa.

We managed just over 500 with Spezza out and Karlsson in. (4-4-1)

I just dont see many wins at all with both out.

I've seen Jones twice in person this year and get to watch him play on TV tonight.

Obviously thats a limited sample size, but I was also super impressed with him at the WJC's (as well as everyone else)

I think upside wise, he could be a franchise defenseman. I could foresee 25-28 minutes a night, 50ish point offense, all while being solid in his own zone.

People have compared him to Pronger, but thats 99% wrong. Jones is really big and might end up somewhere around 6"6', but hes not physical. He rarely throws hits, instead preferring body position and stick work.

Hes a great skater, possibly his best asset imo. Hes as big as Cowen, and while Jared is a good skater for his size, Jones is quicker and faster which is scary.

He runs Portlands pp and usually skates the puck up. He has pretty good hands and can skate through some people, though the first game I saw him, it was his 2nd or 3rd in the dub and he looked really shaky with the puck, but has gotten much more comfortable.

He tried to stick handle it as the top guy in the umbrella and lost it which lead to a breakaway. He dd almost catch the guy though. In my other viewing and at the worlds, he never made an obvious mistake again.

His shot is pretty powerful as well, though he doesn't seem like a shoot first guy but that may be due to Portland being so god damn stacked.

Overall, I think he has franchise upside, but is pretty safe as well to be at least a top 4 guy. He doesn't play a flashy game at all or wow you, but he just makes smart reads and has the physical attributes to make him a star.

I'd rather go after Tom Wilson RW who could be ready for or in the NHL around when Neil is getting ready to retire. What would Washington want, Filatov plus?

I don't see what this has to do with the draft or Ryan Hartman besides them both playing for the Whalers.

Filatov has no value in this league anymore. Tom Wilson is a first round pick. You're not going to get him for scraps.
