Hate to say it but we could be close to Top 5 by the end of it all. We are dressing half our AHL team and bottom 6 guys these days.
Wonder if Murray gets another 1st at the deadline (Michalek?, Gonchar?).
How does the lottery kick in? I'd hate to be moved down the list and miss someone we need by a pick. Am I correct that any of the non-playoff teams can jump to the front (4 move restriction is gone now) and that the order remains the same (based on standings) after that? Is the jump permanent for each round or dodoes the winner revert to standings order for the 2nd - 7th Round?

They got rid of the only moving up 4 spaces rule. Each team in the lottery has a chance to pick first.
He's going first overall. I don't expect us to suck THAT bad.
I just hope we get a top 5 pick.
Jones
Drouin
Lindholm
Mackinnon
Monahan
are who I want the most.
We need one of Drouin, Lindholm or Monahan more than defence. He difference between Jones and those three is not enough to warrant grabbing him. We need a gambreaker on the offence now were fine on the back-end with Karlsson, Cowen, Ceci and co.

The rest of the rounds remain unchanged.
Do we know the probability of winning the 1st overall pick for each non-playoff team?
Also, do we know whether teams can only move backwards one spot in the draft? For example, if the last place team doesn't win the draft lottery, could they get anything worse than the 2nd overall pick?

If anyone could clarify, that would be awesome.
Mackenzie tweeted the odds earlier:

Only non-playoff teams have shot at winning lottery and getting 1st overall pick. Odds of winning as follows: 30th place, 25 per cent...

Richards' bread and butter is his physicality. Monahan's is his smarts. Monahan is no where near close to the physical level Richie was in the OHL.
I like a Toews/Couturier hybrid comparison personally.
In that case I'll take the guy compared to Peter Foresberg, Lindholm.
He's a little gritty and is a smart player. Watching the Devils game makes me wonder what would happen if Condra had any skill with that hockey sense, maybe that is Lindholm.
If you are talking Barkov, I find he runs pretty hot and cold. Consistancy is an issue for sure. Don't see realy high end with him either.
For Grandlund, smaller forward who isn't the quickest guy on the ice. Destined for failure if you ask me. THose guys only succeeed over in Europe, not in the NHL.
You know...as I've been saying most of the time I don't believe in tanking and that this team has to compete. You play to win. Going into tonight I didn't have a lot of faith in our on-ice product unless Silfverberg and a few others started carrying their weight. I'm not so sure anymore. I think this team can compete with our system, defence and goaltending.
I would be ecstatic if we could somehow land Lazar.

Another positive post, it's starting to snowball. If they can stay within a playoff spot as players start to return & with some of the pleasant surprises we have seen from some depth players, anything is possible. Spezza returns for the playoffs, maybe Murray makes a good deadline deal to bring in a good player, maybe some player begins to take off & maybe Bingo goes on another Calder Cup run.

I've always been pretty positive. I've had a couple moments where I was very frustrated, but ultimately most of my posts are always about competing and anti-tanking. I would like to see a couple of moves though to really increase our chances of being competitive. C'est la vie.

Consistency an issue? Since you are Canadian, I doubt you have been watching him play at all in Finland. He just recently had 12 game point streak in SM-Liiga, and his longest point drought whole season has been 3 games.
Also, he is 10th in whole league scoring, and just broke the league record in points for 17-year old draft eligibles (41 pts in 45 games)
