We're playing too well to even have a chance at Monahan if he does drop to the 10 - 20 range.

It would be insane to have him on the team though. Spezza - Turris - Monahan - Zibanejad

I could see Monahan dropping to the 10-14 range, probably just outside of our reach.

But let's not forget, we're basically a 3 game losing streak away from being out of a playoff spot. Things are TIGHT in the East between 5-11, with only 7 points separating those 8 teams.

There any a number of scenarios that we could draw up for the draft. Personally, I would like to see Murray hang onto Bsihop until the draft & use our first & Bishop (& maybe Da Costa, if required) to move up to snag Monahan. If we were able to draft Monahan I would assume he would be returned to junior for another yr, than Bingo for a yr after that before he got a sniff in Ottawa at 19 or 20 yrs old.

Remember, it`s doubtfull we have another season of injuries like this one & there are a number of older players ahead of him. I could see a Turris/Monahan future in Ottawa at some point though. I don`t see Zibanejad as a 4th line centre though, more likely Grant, JOB or Z. Smith. Monahan has the size at least to start on a lower line & work his way up like Couturier.

Brenden Kitchen rejected the Islanders offers, and is reentering the draft this year. He wont fall past the second round, would love to get him, loved his game when watching Spokane for Cowen. Leads the WHL in D scoring. 5th round pick in 2011

looking at his stats, he had 81 points in 61 games his draft year...why did he fall to the 5th round?

His draft year was 2010, but he was passed over. He was then taken the next year as a 19 year old. Older players usually fall to lower rounds. He will be 21 when drafted this year. Also to note, he was Cowen's partner.

Can anybody provide me with any rule or proof that Kichton could re-enter the draft?

I know this isn't proof, as it's just a beat writer. I, like you, still do not see how he is able to reenter. Unless there has been a rule change in the new CBA, he should be a free agent. I'm not sure, but he was passed over in his first draft in 2010, and was drafted in 2011. I would assume that most guys that reenter the draft would have been taken their first time able to be drafted, not sure that makes any difference.

I find it ridiculous that if the season ended today, we'd be drafting 25th overall.

Like, never in my wildest dreams could I have envisioned us playing this well the day after Karlsson went down for the year.

I just think it's interesting to note this, when just over a month ago we were talking about the possibility of a top-5 pick. Now, we're very close to a bottom-5 pick.

Crazy.

No Elias Lindholm for you then.

From most things I've read, he's pretty soft for his size.

Doesn't seem like your kind of player.

But he can score .... and he has some good bloodlines. I think this came from McKeens:

Three things are immediately apparent after watching Mantha for more than 10 minutes:
1. He has a power forwards frame
2. He is a very smooth skater and reaches his top speed in 2-3 strides
3. His hockey sense is very strong.

Skill & Size.

I've read that he's one of the biggest wild cards in the whole draft.

Unreal scoring ability, but many question his heart and drive.

He's also one of the oldest players in the draft. Few days off of being drafted last season so he's also had a whole extra season of development.

After asking the Isles board, here is the reason Kichton can reenter the draft.

8.4 Eligibility for Claim.
(a) All Players age 18 or older are eligible for claim in the Entry Draft,
except:
(i) a Player on the Reserve List of a Club, other than as a try-out;
(ii) a Player who has been claimed in two prior Entry Drafts;
(iii) a Player who previously played in the League and became a Free
Agent pursuant to this Agreement;
(iv) a Player age 21 or older who: (A) has not been selected in a
previous Entry Draft and (B) played hockey for at least one season
in North America when he was age 18, 19, or 20 and shall be
eligible to enter the League as an Unrestricted Free Agent pursuant
to Article 10.1(d); and18
(v) a Player age 22 or older who has not been selected in a previous
Entry Draft and shall be eligible to enter the League as an
Unrestricted Free Agent pursuant to Article 10.1(d).

He's ranked mid-first by most places I've looked at, does that mean you think he will fall? It's every kids dream to play in the NHL, he's young & he will figure that out, if not you trade him. A whole extra season of development could have been very good for him. He has family who have been there & know what it takes. I'm sure if he has character issues the Sens will not draft him as they did not with Couturier.
