At one time in my life, I had to wear suits every day. That means having at least 5 suits and rotating them. It was like playing dress up for conservative people.
At $500 a crack... it gets expensive too, and they wear out with regular wear and tear no matter how much you pay. Sure, cheap suits wear out faster, but so do $1000 suits if you wear them at a sit down job. Trust me on that one.
What a happy day it was when I got into another line of work.
And there are the people on the other side of the fence who like to look good and to impress. That's what it's really all about: Suits are strictly for presentation, zero function. I wouldn't want to wear one for work either. Walking around in a suit when it's 40c in the Summer. God no...
They have a private label brand called Roberto, you can get a nice sitting well fitted suit for $595 for one suit or $795 for two suits. They wear well for business and are a step up from Moore's / Tip Top but under Harry Rosen prices. It's also old school tailoring and customer service.
Good value in my estimation, but it would be a hike for you.
I will most likely wear the whole suit once or twice a year and then use the pants every week for work.
Yeah the pants were actually just 30$ or something. I bought a second pair of another colour. I figure it's was worth it. They were slim fit so they look modern. I also plan to use the pants for work and at that price, I don't care if they don't last forever hehe.
Actually I just bought dress pants, tie and dress shirt a few days ago for a wedding this weekend. I skipped the coat for now. Moores is having a buy one get one free. I got an extra shirt, tie and jeans. You don't have to buy another dress pants so i got jeans instead.
I used to go to Les Ailes but they went belly up and were taken over by International Clothiers and the quality is crap now.
I tried a couple of smaller shops in and around Chabenelle but it was hit or miss.
Now I go to Harry Rosen during a major sale or to their Outlet Warehouse where they have really good quality and prices.
Boss Selection and Boss Jam/Stars fit me best. Contemporary, slim fit cut. Same with Z Zegna which is a more fitted cut that fits my body type off the rack. Normally you can get designer names suits (Boss, Zegna, Armani or Canali if your lucky etc.) for between $500-$700.
Hope that helps.
