Top 25 Canucks Highlights - #1

The summer is boring. I'll make a series of polls to count out the top 25 on ice highlights in Canucks history.

After you make your pick, vote to add another one.

"He'll play on crutches" and it's not even close. Coming back from a 3-1 deficit to force a game 7 at Madison Square Garden, knowing full well that our leader was going to do whatever it took to win it. Trevor Linden in that playoff year was the definition of what a captain should be, and maybe people (myself included) are guilty of holding other captains to the same standard when players like these are a rarity. Linden was the heart of the Canucks and that team, and the end of that game 6 was smbolic of our entire team: we were beaten, battered, bruised, but you knew we just wouldn't quit. That 94 team had a never say die attitude, and it was embodied by that call. I will never forget it.

It would be cool if some of the older posters (Ogie Oglethorpe?) could think up some highlights from before 1994, I was a wee lad and don't remember much.

Flying fishsticks Batman! Kevin Bieksa sent us to the 1994 Stanley Cup Finals?

But for me, "He'll play on crutches"

I would add:

- Morrison's triple OT goal in game 6 against the Flames in 2004
- Harold Druken's goal against the Kings in 2001 to clinch a playoff spot
- Burrows's GW SHG against the Canes to break the losing streak
- Daniel Sedin's beautiful hat trick goal in the final game of the 2009-2010 season against the Flames, where Henrik clinched the Art Ross

Edit: just noticed the last one is already there. Nevermind it.

I would add Henrik's 5-4 goal against LA in the 2010 playoffs. He scored with less than 3 minutes left to clinch the game. Had he not, we could have easily been down 3-1 in the series (and most-likely would not have won it in the end).

Edit: Voted for Burr

Oh dear, then we wouldn't have lost vs blackhawks in the next round

Oh so I guess Bieksa's overtime goal doesn't hold any meaning either since we were subsequently humiliated by Boston, right?

Well I think it's more significant than some of the other options in the poll, aside from the obvious ones.

Trevor Linden's final game should be up there as well. Very emotional night.

It has the convenience of being recent, but everything changes if Burrows doesn't score that goal against the Hawks. It's I think the biggest goal in franchise history to date.

the burrows goal against chicago is the biggest goal ever scored in our franchise's history. bure's game 7 goal is up there too, but we were down 3-1 in that series and weren't favorites to win either.

but the blackhawks one - we were the presidents' trophy winners up 3-0 in the series. chicago takes it to game 7 and we were on the verge of one of, if not the biggest team collapses in NHL history. yet burrows once again was so clutch to give us the victory and not be embarrassed.

but the embarrassment came 3 rounds later when the canucks forgot they were playing in the SCF

Voted Bure

Add Odjick goes ballistic against the Blues.
Add Burrows Canucks slump busting goal.
Add Burrows Wings streak ending goal.
Add Tiger Williams rides his stick.
Add Brawl Bieksa vrs Eager, and Burrows pulls hair.

Don't add Nedved asks Gretzky for his stick.
Don't add Luongo pumps tire interview.
Don't add Bill LaForge hired as head coach.
Don't add anything to do with Mark Messyer.

Burrows' game 7 goal vs Chicago was the quintessential 'Cup Run' moment in 2011, whereas "He'll play on crutches.." took that honour in '94.

Perfect toss-up IMO.

Canucks go to the finals '94:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wURNYt1Gw_w

Burrows vs Chicago was every bit as good but it didn't put us in the finals, so Adams wins. Plus we beat Toronto, and us old guys gotta vote for our generation since so many of you weren't Canucks fans in 94'.

So many good choices. Voted Sedin's hat trick goal. That was just so awesome.

Fixed the error in the poll. Bieksa didn't send the Canucks to the 1994 finals.

Voted the Burrows goal. That is probably the biggest goal scored by any Canuck player since I started following the Canucks religiously.
