Very true. In their attempt to catch up with the Yankees, the Sox became exactly what they said they hated: the free spending evil empire that tried to buy championships.

Pishpash. Everyone knows since the inception of free agency the New York Yankees have been the only professional sports team to sign free agents with....gasp...money.

Perish the thought. Good heavens.

We need more teams like the Pirates and the Marlins, that will get people to the park.

The hypocritical, blind hatred of the Yankees over money and free agency is the biggest fallacy in fandom. Especially since the chief haters are fans of teams who either A.) are money makers themselves B.) spend money yet fail consistantly (rhymes with Mets) or C.) pocket all their revenue, put nothing back into the team and cry poverty. You want to hate the Yankees? Hate them the way I hate the Rangers, because they are your rival.

Anywho, it is a miracle this Yankees team got this far considering the offense resembles the burn ward at Kimball Medical Center.

How?

A Yankee fan referred to the Marlins as a joke, and I pointed out the irony.

This has nothing to do with my dislike for the Yankees or support of the Red Sox. Just the respect I have for what the Marlins did with how little they had to spend... but the A's and their 0 championships are the ones with the Hollywood movie.

I'm fully aware of the Red Sox terrible championship resume.

I agree, sort of. I think it's amusing when Mets and Sox fans complain about the Yankees buying players, as if the Mets raised Beltran, Delgado, Piazza, Johan, Dickey, etc as prospects.

That being said, I think it's impressive when a small market team on a really tight budget is capable of winning the World Series.

The Marlins are a joke. Their owner is a cheapskate, their fans are a bunch of frontrunners, and Ozzie Guillen is their manager. The whole organisation is a bit crazy.

I think he's hilarious, but he's a sideshow clown. I wouldn't want him managing my team.

The Yankees are a joke because they spend? At least they spend and don't hold a liquidation sale five minutes later, THAT'S a joke. There's nothing wrong with trying to win within the rules, but there is something wrong with making a mockery of your product and fanbase.

And not for nothing, the Marlins did spend for their first championship. They bought a bunch of mercs then sold them off that offseason.

Well, that's one way of describing John Tortorella.

Also, why do I give less of a **** about this postseason than I did last year? I don't even support a team.

Baseball coaches all over the country watching this series are trying to prevent themselves from having heart attacks

When you are fielding a ground ball, you come through the ball and don't stop moving, never do you back away otherwise that ball is gunna eat your ass up just like it did Tex twice this game and Chavez earlier in the series and the two of them of all people

Well A-Rod gets his shot...6-1 down, runners on the corners with two out, they PH Ibanez for him against a lefty and he flies out to center. His last AB as a Yankee?

Leyland is toying with them bringing in Coke this much. He is laughing how they can't even hit Coke. There are probably college teams who could have put up a better fight in this series.

Last night's postponement was just a stay of execution. Nobody expected them to win four straight. But I am not pleased with how bad they were this whole series.

Oh boy should this be an interesting off season, Granderson has a team option, Swisher, Ichiro, Martin, Kuroda, Pettitte all FA's, A-Rod's contract and future with the team

Just imagine things if papa Steinbrenner were around for this

Peralta has as many home runs as the Yankees lineup has hits tonight. I see the Yankees came to play!

I'd be amused if the World Series wound up being Detroit-St.Louis, the respective worst records of each league's five playoff teams.

Granderson's option should be picked up. Kuroda and Martin I want back, especially Kuroda. Pettitte and Ichiro might retire, Swisher will probably be allowed to walk. ARod cannot be back after this, they will find a way to trade him to Miami and make him their problem.

Selig would tout the effectiveness of his new contrived playoff system, the rest of us would be annoyed by how the supposedly weakest wild card teams made the World Series.

Detroit wasn't a wild card though lol, that's the irony of it.

Tigers are kinda like the Kings. Both dangerous lineups, didn't have a great record but made the playoffs, then started playing to their potential.
