Well at least they aren't hosting the Mem cup or anything.

Tip my hat to Gregor for having Graham on the radio yesterday, should do that every game night so people know there is a game.

Exactly. Why not have a segment called Oil Kings Game Preview or something like that where Graham can cue up the game and fill everyone in, that way people constantly are in the loop. It serves them well to do it as well because the freaking games air on the same station, so why not.

Laurent Brossoit probably had his best game of the year.

Cole Benson played well, tallying two assists, took a huge hit and Im not sure if he played again or not.

Mason Geertsen stepped up and answered the bell when Jacob Doty came calling.

Doty is considered one of if not the toughest guy in the WHL and Geertsen held his own. Not bad for a 17yr old.

Glad to see Benny's doing well. Great guy. Him and Marshall Donald (Hitmen prospect, ranked in the CSS in the 5th-7th round range, plays for the Crusaders, going the NCAA route). Really routing for those two.

I feel like Geertsen is second round at lowest with his size and toughness and package of skills.

Tip my hat to Spector, starts his show asking people to text into the show where they are watching hockey this weekend. Goes on to say he is at Rexall for Kings and Hitmen which is also on sportsnet tonight.

Good idea overall though, spend 10 minutes a show talking about local hockey.

2-0 Calgary and we're barely underway. This Oil Kings team is undisciplined as hell and the Hitmen are superior to them in every capacity.

Well, at least they've got a terrific powerplay (4th in the WHL) it's just too bad that they spend most of their time on the PK.

Yes, Moroz. More of that.

Reinhart with two huge hits in the final minute of the 1st.

Reinhart with a subtle, not dirty but extremely hard check onto his man by the penalty box. That sounded loud.

The Oil Kings deserved a better result last night. That was the best game I've seen them play all year thus far...and even Klarc Wilson had a solid outing!

The Hitmen are legit though, they never go away no matter how much you pour it on; hopefully the Oil Kings have a better string of results next week against the Blazers, Warriors and Tigers.

No. I call Corbett and Sautner -Abbott and Costello.

They are both terrible in their own end.

But to be fair it is a fast tough league and the forecheckers are on you right away. That cant be easy to deal with.

The absence of Pysyk and Gernat has completely neutered the Oil Kings' WHL-best defense. Corbett and Sautner taking regular shifts just isn't going to cut it.

Every team loses players every year.

That's no excuse.

I'm not excusing anything, just stating the facts - Sautner and Corbett suck.

Hopefully, Bob Green has a trick or two up his sleeve because this club really needs some defensive reinforcements. If the Giants continue to struggle maybe he can get David Musil out of there.

This is true.

They also need Brossoit to be better.

Brossoit's a high-event goaltender. Either he's really good or he's really awful; there's rarely any in between. He earned his WHL Playoff MVP against the top teams last year but the Oil Kings' defence was nothing short of dominant throughout 2011/2012.

His Sv% is .896.

That isnt near good enough.

Tristan Jarry who plays behind the same defense Brossoit does has a .925 Sv%.

Oh, definitely, and hopefully he can find a way to stabilize his game. Having said that, I saw the same cracks in Brossoit's armour last year when everybody was busy chanting "LB! LB! LB!"

You mean when he was winning the MVP for the playoffs?
