Wow looks like his point totals took a huge leap last season. Could be a nice addition to the Barons blueline.

The Barons are gunna be sick this year. Stockpile depth. I don't mind it.

Sounds like he was under contract to the Chicago Wolves but they released him to sign with Edmonton.

He played 19 games with Chicago after the NCAA season ended in 2011-2012. MacT was coach of Chicago in 2011-2012.

nothjing wrong in building depth in the organization while also working on improving the oilers.
it would be nice to actually have competition for jobs, instead of AHL defensemen like potter gertting an NHL job by default.

MacTavish actually coached him in 2011-12. Could be a sneaky good signing.

Agreed, develping a winning culture will be prominent in OKC, they just need to find the right mix of winning and developing the young players and getting them proper ice time.

Fedun-Marincin
Gernat-Musil
Hunt-Davidson

This appears to be the starting 6 for OKC. I really hope Roy gets at least 40 starts and starts in the playoffs too.

R. Hamilton-Arco-Pitlick
Raajala-Martindale-Miller
C.Hamilton-Acton-Kessey
Tyravainen (if he stays in NA)

If Lander starts with the Oilers, that is. Need to turn a couple of forwards into NHLers. Miller is a darkhorse pick-up, lots of character.

We'll see what happens with Klefbom at training camp, it wouldn't be that surprising if EDM were to give him some time in the AHL, depending how he performs in exhibition games.

4 pts in 5 playoff games that year.

Hunt also played with Turris and Weircioch in the BCHL. Given Stu MacGregor scouts the BCHL and the Oilers were high on Turris I'm sure Stu must have seen him a lot in Junior.

He played with Matt Read in college too.

Really hope Pitlick and Hamilton take a big step next year. That roster looks pretty good if they show improvement.

Tyrväinen has signed with Jokerit in the SM-liiga so that bird has definitely flown.

Hunt is 25 and was an AHL all star this past season. He's small, but Brian Rafalski was apparently about that size, 5'8" or 5'9" tops, despite what the media guides reported, and he played successfully in the NHL for about 15 years. Some guys can make it work.

Hunt can help some of the young prospects develop in the AHL, if nothing else.

Klefbom will surprise I think. Although, if he makes it, someone will be waived (maybe Potter) to make space. Could end up in OKC. I think MacT is looking to send a depth D, Potter or N Schultz, packing. Philip Larsen is still young enough he could turn into a useful no 6-7.

For us 7th is a possibility but 6th is very unlikely a few years down the line. There will be too many people competing with him for a job.

Ference, Schultz, Smid, Petry and Klefbom are guys guys that push him out.

I bet Marincin leap frogs him after next season. That pushes Larsen down to 7.

Musil is another guy who's got an outside chance at playing in the NHL in the 14/15 season.

I'm under the impression that one of Smid or Petry become expendable once one of Marincin or Musil are ready for the NHL. Smid was the better guy last year, but I'm under the impression that Petry is going to be the better player down the road.

Watched Hunt a lot last year playing for the Wolves. Had a great middle part of the season. Quarterbacked the power play and was excellent in moving the puck and has great point shot. Very quick and agile - plays end to end hockey. However, got hurt during latter part of the year and play faded. Knock will always be size and his ability to withstand heavy hitting. Yet when healthy did well in his own end.

Absolute rink rat as young player in Vancouver area and seems committed to making it as a pro. Will , at least, be a decent AHL player

The #Oilers have signed D Brad Hunt from Chicago (AHL) to a 2-year deal

Hunt is 24 and played at Bemidji State. Name the hard-nosed member of 80's Flames that played at Benidji?

Thanks for the info.

Did he play on the right side at all for the Wolves?

We're probably looking at a logjam of left shooting D in OKC next season, so I'm curious.
