He doesn't have a contract. The Oilers own his rights.

Plus he's signed to EV Zug for the sentire season. There's no out clause, as I understand it. His only comment on Twitter was that he wishes his teammates Brunner, Zetterberg and Diaz good luck and that he'll miss them.

I thought he went there because there would be an out?

Hm. You could easily be right, but I don't remember it that way. I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that he's definitely there for the year, and that any club interested in him would have to wait till next season.

Or buy out his contract with Zug, perhaps.

You're right though, it'll have to wait until 2013-14.

I think he was ready to accept our offer and go to the camp as a last option, and try to get a team true waivers(obviously we hadnt give him a roster spot). The lockout came between and he took a good 1 year deal wit zug before the nhl invasion had limited his choices. Thats my 2 cent! If he continues likes he started in switzerland, theres good chances for him to get a team in the golf season and we doesnt leave empty handed from our 5th rounder.

I'd love to see him go to Detroit and see some success in the NHL.

Jones's injury really is just a bright spot for guys like Petrell, Hartsi and even Eager.

I wish omark would accept what the reason he was in the AHL was. The Oilers were trying to make him a more complete player, it wasn't a punishment. It's too bad he was so entitled. He could have developed into a legitimate player.

This is the most reasonable comment regarding Omark. In his own mind he figures he is a superstar. Everyone forgets that he was drafted in the later rounds. Those guys almost always spend time developing in the minors.

I don't know if it'll be in Detroit but i agree he's just too talented offensively not to get a REAL shot somewhere and be a contributor. It's not totally the Oilers fault what happened here with all the talent, but i still think keeping Paajarvi over Omark the past few seasons was fairly ludicrous. I think he's the next Ville Leino.

I do agree that perhaps some humility would have served him well but in fairness he really ought to have made the team on merit in that first TC. It's also not like he didn't go down to OKC and play well, it didn't seem like he ever came close to quitting on anyone. It's far more common for a player to be upset about being demoted than some would like to act, Alex Giroux compained the same TC too. If his comments upset Oiler managment sooo much then he was absolutly right in claiming that politics plays a heavy role. Also an interesting quote came via Nelson on how Omark was too good for the AHL so improving upon his weaknesses down there might not be a very tenable option. I actually admired Omark for his honesty the guy says what he thinks, it's good for him and i for one wish more people were like that.

It will be interesting to see how he does now that half. The team is coming back to the NHL, including DB.

Yeah, because teams often go far "holding back" their "better" players. Omark isn't good enough to be a top-9 forward on the Oilers, and it's not really close.

It's a shame Omark is a garbage NHL hockey player. I was hoping he would turn out. Too slow and too weak on the puck on 2/3rds of the rink.

You do know the Oilers have not been going far right? lol. In fact they are one of the biggest charity cases in terms of needing the draft in pro sports history. If the Oilers go far it's going to have to be said they got an awful lot of help from a system that rewards faliure, not because they are so great at judging talent.
