Nj-tor

To NJ:MacArthur

To TOR: Volchenkov, 3rd or 4th

Leafs add a nice Veteran presence and a physical, shut down d-man.

NJ gets a top 6 winger that will put up 20 goals and 20 assists.

The odds of NJ trading Volchenkov are probably nil and especially not for one piece in MacA. Also, I believe he has a NTC. Plus they add a pick?

When do people realize that Volch has a NTC which he will not waive?? He has a family here now and it will take a lot to persuade him to move.

I really don't think NJ should be the one adding here.

New Jersey needs a top line or 2A winger. They have several 2B/3A wingers (Butler, Zubrus, Clarkson), which is what Mac is.

Not saying he's good, but he's hardly a grinder or a 1st liner

Volchenkov would fit well on the Leafs, but not at the price of a 1st which could be anywhere from a lottery pick to a 15th to 20 pick. I would be willing to move MacArthur plus Franson for Volchenkov plus something else, but NJ needs him and most likely Volchenkov wouldn't want to waive his NTC.

Are there 2 defenseman on NJ that they would be willing to trade for MacArthur + Franson? I think I've seen people say that NJ has a surplus of NHL ready defensemen, would this be feasible to get rid of a couple while only taking 1 back?

I think Tallinder is NJ's most tradable defenseman. Green might possibly be available but I doubt it. Volchenkov has a NTC but he's tradable IMO. I'm just not sure if he'll waive.

We have a lot of defensive prospects too. Someone like Urbom or Burlon might be available as a second piece. I'd rather hang onto Merrill and Gelinas.

Tallinder + Urbom

for ?

Having a no trading/moving clause on your contract doesn't mean you'll never be traded. If Volchenkov feels he'll get a better role in Toronto than with NJD and his loaded defence, he'd give LL the green light.

Anton for Clarke straight up and nothing more.

Why is NJ adding?? The Leafs should be adding.

Volchenkov is not going to waive unless it's for a better opportunity but in this case I think he might be willing to move back to Canada to be close to Ottawa. I doubt it though. Lou really has no leverage because he can't afford to pull the "I'll bury you in the AHL" card.

Why do we need Kadri? I wouldn't touch that deal.

I don't like it, we have enough defense prospects. Urbom would be in the range of Blacker, who's our third or so best d prospect. He'd have to be in the AHL, and next year I think Blacker will make the jump, along with possibly Rielly so he'll be battling for a spot once again. There just isn't enough room for Urbom, maybe if you want to give us forward prospect with equal value.

I say no deal from the Leafs because they have a lot Defesman who can play right now in the NHL and shouldn't be adding more.

He's pretty good. That move he pulled on Marty in the shootout this year sold me on him.

Plus who knows what Zajac's intentions are. He could be gone after this year. Kadri could be a possible 2nd or 3rd line RW this year until we know more about what Zajac is gonna do. Plus Josefson hasn't really shown too much yet. Center depth is always a good thing.

I would do that Kadri deal in a heartbeat... not sure Burke would.

Urbom is stuck in a traffic jam of young blueliners, Volchenkov is redundant with the signing of Salvador and a 2nd isn't the end of the world. We'd be acquiring a kid that has some pretty solid upside and can dish the puck real well.

I'd like to see what he can do with Kovy as his linemate

Sounds good to me, so what will it cost us to get Kovy in Toronto then?
