Another long term contract extension to a young player...can you say contract limits in the new CBA?

Wonder if he got anywhere near what he was holding out for in Phoenix.

5 years for a 23 year old just coming into his prime is long term?

Isn't this the exact type of limit the NHL actually wants?

The contract limit the owners are looking for is 5 years, so this is perfectly fine.

My guess is 3.75-4.25

Wtf? Why would he sign that long of an extension before the season where he's going to get a full camp, and the second line center spot?

Without even knowing the cap hit, I think if he broke out and got 55-60 points this year, he would make a lot more...

This, seems like odd timing for him unless he REALLY got paid.

Ottawa Senators ‏@NHL_Sens

The five-year contract extension for #Sens forward Kyle Turris (commencing 2013-14) will have an AAV of $3,500,000.
What a steal

A 5 year contract for Kyle Turris?

This is why we are heading into a lockout.

Agreed. Don't see why a player who never put up 30 points should be 5 years at 3.5 per. Hardly a steal.

Edit: He does have the potential to be worth more than that, but he ain't there yet.

Good deal for Ottawa. Turris is guaranteed money but the Senators kept the cap-hit down (it has the potential to be a steal in a few years)
