Ohhh I see. Another friend just text me it's a trick...point A to point B is 2 miles....but the trail switches back 4 times and it is almost 6 miles...

Never done it before so I can't judge, but apparently its easier than it sounds. 6 mails up a mountain sounds dreadful.

It's not the strenuous activity it's the lack of oxygen at 6000+ ft that kills you. And we easterners just aren't used to it. I know I can't do 6 miles.

It's over. It's finally over. The Jersey Shore has been cancelled.

We can rebuild.

Jersey Shore wasn't the sole cause of the crap Jersey gets from out of staters. Just icing on the cake. Nothing will change.

That and there's still about 8 other NJ-based reality shows out there.

Whoa, ok. Lets not get ahead of ourselves here. Those houses they lived in should probably be burned down.

No amount of disinfectant can clean them.

I was reading about the 7Summits and how the elevation just nukes your body. Of course, I don't think you're running at that altitude.

You didn't build that.

I love our state.

It does cause some rather interesting moments during any ridiculous Rangers/Devils argument. I have to defend my favorite team while defending my home.

Not that I agree with their platform, but I at least tune in....

This is why we have so many problems in this country

Not that I think the Euro will lead the EU into increasingly federalisation or make them another superpower or anything, but I do doubt there will be a large scale land war in Europe for a long time. The spectre of nuclear retaliation looms too large for anybody to try, and none of the countries that would be involved are still at Great Power status. This is the Pax Americana at work.

Either way, we're still in a truckload of debt to somebody, and unless we suddenly start finding huge budget surpluses from somewhere, we won't be getting out.

Today they are one of our biggest allies and trade partners. I see no reason why China can't be the same. The debt isn't as bad as everyone makes it out to be...don't get me wrong, it is bad, but not insurmountable. 15 trillion is the US's mortgage. The government collects about 2 trillion every year....Debt 7x income? Doesnt seem impossible to me....
I've seen the economic models that show how the debt is impossible to pay off and the basis of most of this is the conventional wisdom that government will continue to grow at current rates.
It cannot any longer.
Excellent post. China holds some 9% of our debt, while people and institutions in the U.S. hold 53% of the debt.

What no politician will ever say is that it's one generation eating too much cake. The boomers cost more than we can handle. Our generation has to pay taxes to pay for their medicare, while we will end up with some pissy voucher for our old years. It is what it is.

I don't care about the high cost of living in this state, not being allowed to pump our own gas, and our high rate of automobile accidents. But our greatest pizza, our amazing education system, and our great state police makes me proud to be a Jerseyite!

Wow, that blows. I drove from Rochester to Maryland this past weekend and passed through some small Pennsylvania town. I had to get gas and happened to pull into a service gas station - of which we have very few in upstate NY... I was the only car and the guy took ****ing forever. He was a nice guy but holy **** he was slow.

Full service is actually rather quick in NJ. Or at least all of the stations I've gone to, give or take one or two exceptionally slow people who clearly didn't give a damn. But that's because its the standard here. Best part is we get full service gas, and its far cheaper than self-serve states (at least its far cheaper than NY).

I thought Ryan's was bad for their cause

Apparently, we're going to create 12 million jobs by helping the sick, poor, and elderly. All by giving small businesses a leg up. And pissing off Russia.

I won't even touch the Neil Armstrong and his wife's "success" comments.

And when the oceans rise, it'll be cool, because the people who lose their homes jobs and lives - well, they would've had jobs so it was worth it for them

It was an effective speech, but Romney's bar was set low.

All Romney had to do tonight was counter the hundreds-of-millions of dollars of negative Obama ad spend thus far centering on Romney being an inhuman, non-loving, unlikeable, corporate robot. He clearly did that.

You HAVE to remember that Obama's financial campaign strategy this election was to carpet bomb America with negative Romney spend AHEAD of THIS convention, in order to "define" Romney in independent voters minds BEFORE tonight.

The problem is that Team Obama has spent a TON of their powder and ammunition ahead of tonight, and yet.... Romney is still tied or slightly behind/ahead of Obama in the polls.

That's bad news for the president, and as of 56 minutes ago, Mitt Romney is now legally allowed to spend his campaign money.

Romney's financial campaign strategy this election was to play political rope-a-dope. Romney and their PACs have spent very little thus far, but will unleash starting tomorrow, whereas Obama and their PACs have already spent a ton of $$$$.

Politically speaking, I did not disagree with Obama2012's strategy, but it was risky, and it clearly has failed.
