IMO, it depends on how O'Brien plays, but Smith in part of a package for a young, 2nd pair Dman or top six winger would be optimum.

I think the Sens were close to sending him to Chicago for Hjalmarsson, but opted to move Foligno instead.

Unless we get a Top 4 Defenceman (which are high demands) or a Top 6 Winger (also high demand), I imagine the Sens keep Smith.
Im going to sound like a ******* Canucks fan here, but Raymond and Ballard fit that description.

With the departure of Foligno, Raymond could definitely replace the lost production in the top - 6 and with a full offseason get back to the 45-50 point range pretty easily.

Are you freaking kidding me?

You evidently have something against the guy, because that evaluation is absolutely god awful for the Senators.

nah not Raymond, Foligno is gone because he was expendable to the organization. it think they are high on Zibanejad Dacosta, Stone and Silverberg. all 4 play wing and 2 can play center pretty decently so far in their careers.

i see Ottawa wanting a defenseman TBH.

The OP is nonsensical. Smith is perfectly slotted as a 3C, or 4C if we go Spezza-Turris-Zibby for 3 scoring lines (and Zibby pans out).

No interest in either, especially Ballard.

Do not want. We have, IMO, 7 NHL ready centres. (Spezza, Turris, Zibanejad, Smith, O'brien, Regin, Da Costa). The only one with a real injury problem is Regin. Johansen would be a nice 2B if the price is cheap, which it never is for young, solid, ex-lottery picks on bad teams.

Johansen is most likely going to a very good centreman.

The Senators currently enjoy very good depth at that position and are currently lacking in terms of defensive prospects.

Move makes no sense whatsoever

Yes we are ver center strong, with Regin, Turris and Spezza we have 3 guys that will make a lot of points.

Don't like it. I'd rather have Bishop then Mason, I have very high hopes for Noesen, and we don't even have a second in 2013.

Yeaaah I don't see any point of us giving up what it would cost to get him.

No need for any input from the Columbus side, you guys have pretty much killed an unlikely proposal without any help from us.

Really gonna pull that card? He was 19 last year! And he was a rookie! I could easily point to the whole lotta nothin that Turris has done, well, his whole career. I mean ****, Turris only had 12 goals last year, granted in fewer games, but with more ice time and 3 years of development on Johansen. But these type of stats make up only part of a player's vale when they're so young.

On the 3rd and 4th line. He played very well in his limited ice time. He's untouchable.
