Ah my two favorite goalies that don't play in the Blue Note.

I went with Quick, but it's incredibly close. Wouldn't argue at all if you said Rinne.

Why do people keep saying Quick has only had one good season? He was already top 10 before last year. You just weren't paying attention.

The Kings played an incredibly defensive style of hockey under Terry Murray, no?

Yeah, they did, but they never would have won the Cup with Murray's system. It's waaaayyyy too passive. Trotz is easily a better head coach than Murray in pretty much every way.

Rinne has the natural talent which no one else golies has. That height and still has the flexibility of Hasek. Quick doesn't come close in that.

I think rinne is overrated. he's a huge goalie with a good glove, he's average he just has that huge size that makes him hard to beat and a good glove

I think it is quite close but I picked Rinne. If Quick has another season as last season I would only rank Lundqvist higher than him.

Pekka Rinne, it's close though these guys are probably #2 and #3 in the NHL when it comes to the best goalies in the league.

Voted Rinne, but next year might turn me around. Quick is younger and he is capable of elite plays too. But still has not pushed himself over Rinne, yet.

This.

Im a finn and like Pekka but i also think he is overrated. He is not a product of the Preds system completely. He would also be a very good goalie in any other team but there's some weaknesses in his game that doesnt show as much in Nashville as would show somewhere else.

I am sorry but people saying Quick has only had 1 good season have no idea what they are talking about. Did you start watching hockey this past season?

It's funny how some people keep calling Rinne just a product of the system when both Quick and Lundqvist were playing behind more defensive-minded systems last year.

I think Rinne, Lundqvist and Quick are the clear-cut top3 goalies in the world and their order depends on who happens to get hot for the longest period. Last year Quick was better than Rinne, next year who knows... You can't overlook the fact that Rinne is the workhorse out of these three (Quick is close though, never realized he was only one game away from joining the club of goalies who played over 70 games during regular season and won SC).

I'll echo this. You can go back and forth to argue who is better, and I give Rinne has a negligible edge there. But Quick being younger and cheaper sways me to want Quick on my team.

Just because Quick has a cap circumvention contract doesn't mean he's cheaper. They make the exact same salary. To some teams, actual salary is all that matters, while cap hit only matters to others. You can't really compare the two. Hopefully the new CBA fixes this issue.

But to be fair you were just answering the OP, even though he shouldn't have worded his question that way. Too much variability since everyone cheers for a different team.

Quick had more than one good season, but last season was the first year he was even close to Rinne. I'll take Pekka for now.

Quick just won the Stanley Cup & Conn Smythe... he had one of the best playoff performances we've seen in years. I like Pekka and think he's great, but Quick is the better goalie atm.

Rinne. More talented imo.

The Kings aren't Vancouver, Ottawa, Washington, or Pittsburgh. It is not like they play a drastically different system than Nashville.

While Nashville is really good defensively up and down their line-up, LA is no slouch in that department either. I don't think the difference the team in front of them make is all the different for these two goalies. They make for a good comparison.

I'll take Rinne. It might be simply because I'm more familiar with him due to him playing in the Central division, but there is no denying Rinne's skill set and overall talent level.
