Jesus, is this even a question? Burke may have done a bad job in Toronto, but he's not an idiot. He would know not to pass up a generational talent like him if he fell all the way to #5.

Reilly, obviously.

I think this might be right. He said in an interview that they were thinking of going for need, if it came to it. I felt that they had Rielly and Gally at 1, sharing the top spot. If Gally dropped to 5, they would have taken the pick based on positional need. He didn't drop, so they took the player they felt was the BPA.

Honestly, as much as on the inside Burke would feel Yak is the better player, I think his stubbornness would still lead him to take Reilly.

If he would actually take Rielly at #1 than i can only hope he remains the leafs GM for atleast another 10 years.

Yakupov from a Leafs fan. I know Burke said he would draft Reilly #1 if he had the pick, but I feel he was just exaggerating his opinion that Reilly should of been ranked higher. I'm fairly confident that Burke would draft Yakupov, Galchenyuk and maybe Murray before Reilly.

I don't know. Burke has emphasized character with players he drafts. Morgan Rielly topped all his staff's psych evaluations and was determined to have the best character with the combination of a high skill level and ceiling. Yakupov is also a small winger and Russian. Not exactly what the leafs need. I said before the draft if we were going to move up for anyone it's Galchenyuk. I don't think Yakupov was ever Burke's target.

Is this a joke?

Its Yakupov every day of the week, and twice on Sundays.

There was a quote from a scout saying that if Reilly had not been hurt, there was a very very good chance he could have been ranked #1 in the draft. I'll go with what Burke said, and he and his scouts chose, Reilly.
