Snow deserves props.

Martin at $1m per on his 2nd pro contract, is a terrific bang for the buck.

Happy he's staying but he deserves more money. I think he has more offensive upside than we give him credit for.

You're looking at it as a fan. Objectively, he's a 4th liner with good intangibles and 3rd liner upside.

If he can improve his shot, and play better defensively, I can see him as a 1st line protector (not winger - inserted in tough games only) and a second line talent, but 3rd line very easily. He hits and is tough, but he does actually play solid hockey.

No stache nonsense, Martin is a good player.

Just another example of how Snow is doing a horrible job locking up our young players for long term eh?

These contracts have been excellent and I'm giving credit where credit is due....and if some of you trolls think that Rick was in on it then I give him credit as well.

Is he eligible to go to the AHL to maybe develop his offensive game?

I believe he is.....but I'd PREFER he go to Europe, and play a finesse game with some hitting, but a lot more finesse to grow into a bigger role.

If he could generate offense and backcheck the way he hits with real competition whn he got back to NA, he'd be one friggen awesome player. (and no, I don't mean Ovechkin or Cindy level, I mean a Gary Roberts level)

Great deal by Snow, he excels at locking up RFAs below market value. If only he had any talent at trading or signing UFAs

It saddens me to think of this every time...

And honestly, if the lockout takes out the season AND Visnovsky and Streit are then considered UFAs going into next summer, then what might of been Snow's biggest trading deadline opportunities ever will be out the window too...

As for Martin, I'd LOVE to see him down in the AHL this season.

Don't know if he's eligible with the new deal though...

I called it and you all sad i was nuts.
I kept saying he will get a deal for either 1.5 for like two seasons or a 4 year deal at 1 per season.

I agree. I've envisioned Martin being this team's version of Clark Gillies for some time now. He's not your typical big-bodied enforcer. The kid is a decent skater, handles the puck well for a guy his size and has a pretty good shot.

The 1st-line might end up being a stretch, but surely he's more than a 4th line grinder.

In the future, maybe. Not right now.

I think he'll be a good/great 3rd liner in a few years.

This. It's the one thing I give Snow credit for-he's good at keeping RFAs.

great deal!!

1M per year is already a good value for Martin at his current stage, so I can't imagine how good it will be in 4 years!!

Snow has been doing well in his signings, keep up the good work!

What about Vis?

Attracting UFA's can not be attributed to Snow's abilities. Between the current team they ice, the arena they play in, and the future of the team what UFA's would sign here?

Yeah.....Neil Smith used voodoo the year before Snow. True Story. Scary stuff.

To Snow's credit, the good chunk of players sign on to return for good deals. PAP is the unfortunate exception. Snow got some good young guys, but that only attracts those who play here I would presume. Tavares, Reinhart, Strome and Hamonic will be the guys who will get the team's image up and running, unfortunately as Snow has had one helluva time doing thus. (and I do not blame SNOW for that, per se)

To be fair, Smith signed mostly cast-offs, last-chancers and nobodies. Witt had huge question marks and was coming off of a poor season. Poti was booed out of MSG. Andy Hilbert and Chris Simon were basically nothing. Mike Sillinger was the crown jewel of the Smith signings and as much as I liked him here and thought he was a good signing, he was in the twilight of his career.
