It's weird that a Swedish team has an American Indian logo.

They were actually called just Frölunda HC up till 1995, when they switched their name to Frölunda Indians.

The Indians part is an homeage of sorts to the sucessful years of the 1960's which was commonly refered to as "The Wild West"

They didn't want a cowboy, they didn't want any firearms so they went with Indian.

Perfect sense, I know.

Why didn't they want a cowboy? Was Wyoming threatening to sioux?

Ugh. I hate myself.

So hopefully we get in just enough games this season to set in motion our new personnel strategy.

1) Tank for MacKinnon in 2013
2) Win Cup in 2014
3) Tank for McDavid in 2015 (Sid Approved ™)
4) Win Cup from 2016-2020

Imagine the lines:

MacSid - Sid - McSid
Kunitz - Geno - Neal (Geno so happy! F!)
Cooke - Suter - Dupuis (Epic Shutdown Speed And Grit ™)
Vitale (wingers not required until the Macaroni is ready - will be the first short-handed line to tally 90 pts in league history)

If the Pens make the playoffs.... I think we should have something like "The last time the NHL existed...." avatars and come up with funny differences in 1 season. Have a little fun with the lockout, eh?

Whay seyyyyy you?

I think we should have Dueling Bettman and Fehr icons with CBAisms. This is in 2014 when we actually have playoffs coming.

Just stumbled across this pic ...

My favorite goal of all time. Mike Lange's call also makes that goal what it is. The brief second of silence after Lemieux scores and Mike goes ******* is awesome.

Hey guys, Stars fan here. I was just stopping by because I watched Crosby, Neal and Kunitz play with a bunch of other NHL players in Plano, TX a couple of hours ago. Crosby looks to be 100%. I think he scored 3-4 goals in the organized scrimmage with 12-minute periods. Your guys played with a bunch of Stars and Sabres. Ott, Fowler, Daley, Mike Weber, Souray, Fidler, Purcell, Cleary, Whitney and Clowe were some of the other guys playing.

No problem. I'm going to watch them tomorrow morning. They've been in Dallas since Saturday playing golf... And some hockey. Today was their big golf day (not sure where they played exactly, but I have some ideas). I'm not really a Crosby fan(he's awesome, don't get me wrong), but I might try to get an autograph tomorrow.

I'll update you guys tomorrow.

On the glass-half-full front: If we're going to lose a season, at least it's one of the two years during the Squirrel Hill Tunnels renovation work.

So, today the NHL is expected to cancel games through Nov. 30. That brings the total of lost Penguins home games to a dozen in the regular season and one preseason game.

Each game I spend about $227 … tickets + $15 parking + $20 for nachos and a couple of drinks.

My lockout beard now has a value of $2,724. Plus I now don't have to buy a fake beard for a Halloween costume.
