As am I. It would be a waste. His only usefulness would be as a 3rd/4th liner and parking in front of the net on the PP. Oh that's weird, Tangradi has the same role.

Knuble is old, though... so Disco would actually allow him to fulfill that role.

Now now, I already had my cup of "damn you so silly for bringing up Knuble" and I know that there's no point in bringing him in (esp. now now with the signings that were done in fa) so that he wouldn't hold back Tangradi.
We've all come to accept the fact that Tangradi is top 6 or bust, he doesn't work in a bottom 6 role.

so BACK OFF!

I actually think, to be serious a moment, that Tangradi would be perfectly fine in a bottom six role. In some ways... I think that's how he's going to project, anyway.

As do I. In reality, I think he is, at best, a 3rd wheeler in a top 6 with Sid or Geno and one legit top 6 winger like Neal. If he can find his niche on a line like that, he will succeed. However, more likely he is a 3rd line winger and PP specialist.

Either way, he needs to get his opportunity and that time is whenever we have NHL hockey again.

I would have loved to pick up Knuble back when the Caps did. I'm not hating on him in general; he's just old as ****

One guy I wanted was Brooks Laich. I'd still take him on this team. He's a lot of what we're missing.

My gut tells me that the Pens will make a swap with Nashville involving Colin Wilson and one of our expendable forwards along with Kennedy or Tangradi... Just a gut feeling...

Why would they do that? I mean, I love Colin Wilson as a player, just not seeing the incentive for Nashville.

Martin+ for Hornquist/Wilson? Nashville gets a D to replace Suter on the top pair that is proven in a defensive system, and the Pens get a young winger to play along Sid and it clears up cap space and a roster spot. Seems like it could work. Nashville was interested in Martin at the draft, they could be now too. The problem is isn't Wilson a center?

Nashville won't let go of Hornqvist. Especially for Paul Martin.

I'm pretty sure he's the only guy in Nashville who actually, you know... scores goals.

Hornqvist 0.304 GPG

Radulov 0.305 GPG

It's too bad Radulov is apparently something of a turd. Because he's certainly a pretty damned good player. Though not as good as I suspect he thinks he is.

Yeah that's the long shot, but I could see the Wilson deal working.

Wasn´t Colin Wilson a healthy scratch multiple times for the Preds in last playoffs? Maybe, just maybe the Preds aren´t that high on Wilson. The idea for the swap like this is not too bad, I can see him fitting well in Pitt.

I can't see Nashville cutting Wilson loose as they are not exactly overflowing with young F that have good upside. And they don't need any of our D with Josi and Ellis ready for the big show. Nashville actually not looking like a good trading partner right now. EDM is still the team I'd keep an eye on. They're 1 or 2 solid D away from being a playoff team IMO. Their offense is going to be very good most likely and getting very deep. You Hemsky lovers might get your wish if we have a season / deadline this year. Or if we're willing to pay a bigger D price, maybe Eberle. I think of Hall, RNH, Yakupov, Eberle... Eberle might be the one they'd trade for a nice price. I don't have a concrete reason for that; just a hunch.

As for Knuble, I've seen pandas skate faster. Having him on this team would be a nightmare because Bylsma would instantly start playing him too many minutes / deferring to him too much over younger guys. If Shero is smart, any old guys he acquires will be old guys who still have decent wheels.

Problem with Eberle is now he has a massive contract. The kid is good dont get me wrong, but I dont want him on the Penguins at 6mil a year. That would cost us Letang when hes up for his next contract.

If Dumoulin pans out early we could conceivably offer a package along the Lines of Martin, Despres, 1st for a guy like that. Martin would clear most of the salary for Eberle. I wouldn't have a problem with it. Of course we don't know what the CBA or cap will look like either so it's all guesswork for now. But if you're asking would I rather try to work around Martin's 5M contract to keep Letang or Eberle's 6M contract, no contest. Kick Kennedy and his $2M to the curb to make up for it if you have to. There are plenty of guys in our system or FA who could fill Kennedy's shoes for less. Having a guy like Eberle on our Top 6 would take our offense to another level.

As it is, it looks like that winger spot is Bennett's to lose going into next year, if he keeps playing well / developing in the AHL. He's clearly got gifts no other F prospect has in our system so it's just a matter of maturity and physical strength / health sounds like.

Id rather have Eberle's contract then Martin's for sure. But I have a feeling both him and Kennedy will be gone just to keep players like Letang around. I agree its Bennett's to lose and I think he can get the job done. There will be growing pains for sure but that might be the best option for all involved.

Well we wanted Parise for 7 or 8 a year, I don't know why people think signing a good winger means we'll lose Letang.
